The bizarre thing is, that when he's presented with FACTUAL information (like Foreman and Holmes being ranked at the same time)... he responds with childish, personal attacks.
It makes me wonder, if he's actually being serious... or he's really just laughing his a** off, while trolling us?Comment

No, the 76 ratings were not chosen in March 77 - they appeared in the March issue, but were of course chosen at the end of the previous year. Hence the "Annual Ratings".
Same deal with the 94 rankings, picked at the end of that year - but didn't appear in The Ring until the April 95 issue.
Muhammad Ali, Champion
George Foreman
Ken Norton
Jimmy Young
Duane Bobick
Ron Lyle
Larry Holmes
Howard Smith
Johnny Boudreaux
Stan Ward

Gimme a while to get it done and I'll scan the sundowners section on him.
In a nutshell a very good black fighter who did a lot of favors through his career because he'd given up on a black man being allowed to fight for anything meaningful. He'd go to Europe where he made good ranking and was even champion.
Mostly, Godfrey liked to DQ himself out, however, because it was known he'd do that for a fix it's thought sometimes he did it even when the fix wasn't in because he just wanted a way out, winning or losing.
He said his Primo fight was fixed, his manager claimed it as well, and Primo's as well. Since learning and speaking to it I have been told the Primo team member was jilted and untrustworthy. Either way, before the DQ he was on his way to a W.Comment

Back then it took forever to put the magazine together - after which it was sent out to subscribers and distribuated to newsstands.
So by the time you got your hands on the latest edition, you could read about things that had taken place a couple of months before.
Also, let's say a magazine hit the newsstands in late January. They would likely label that the March or April issue... so fans would be convinced, this was the absolutely newest issue.
So if their annual rankings were published in such an issue, it wasn't supposed to show how things stood in April, or even in March - as those months had not happened yet!
Nat died coming up on 50 years soon enough. What I said still goes and I posted a Ring link for starters proving it.
No amount of equivocation by the usual slurpies can budge it.Comment

Sam Langford KOed him. Was that rigged also? See TBE TUE.Comment

- -I'm not in speculation over the incompetency of Ring, that's why I no longer see Ring in libraries and mag racks and the reason Oscar bought it back from the walking dead not they are the go to guys in all of boxing.
