Thank you -- we missed that one -- will update -- that puts him at a round 30.

    From BoxRec:

"The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Marshall rushed across the ring at the bell, and dropped Charles with a left hook. Charles appeared to be more surprised than hurt, and took a nine-count on one knee. Charles did not appear to be hurt upon rising."

      Discount everything post Marciano? Why!?!?

And what actual proof do you have that he was injured against Marshall? The footage doesn't suggest it was a factor. Sounds like a "my costume was too heavy" excuse.

Definitely neither of those guys was fit to fight Conn when he was their age.

Athletes are often injured. Not since Junior High did I ever Wrestle anywhere near 100%, and I still won plenty. Really

Bivins was clearly at the onset of his notorious plummet when Charles first beat him. But Bivins still put him down for the count of 9 early in the fight. It's not unimaginable that closer to his best, Bivins finishes the job - hence there being such long period of time between the first fight and rematch.

And Maxim who we now know single handedly determined the ability of Charles...

And Conn fought great fighters like pasteur? Have a look at Pasteur's record some time lol.

Im beggining to understand now: Joey Maxim was the greatest fighter ever, only second to Pasteur perhaps?

Because he was clearly, clearly, a shot fighter by that point. Not up for dispute. Or shall we factor in all the times RJJ was knocked out when judging him as a H2H fighter?

I’d like to see the footage, if you have it, all I can go off is the figh report.

The number of KDs and the duration of them seems very odd. I don’t doubt Bivins could put Charles down, but he took 7 kds which didn’t get beyond a 2 count. Clearly something is up there. That just doesn’t happen.

Says the guy who didn't know who Charley Burley was until I mentioned him.

Quick, without using a search engine, who else stopped Holman Williams?

Am I supposed to not know Burley stopped Williams, they fought 3 times I believe...Not sure what does it matter? I think it was more than that and there were 3 wins per. Good question Rusty!

So let me get this straight: since you taught me about Burley shouldn't I be an expert? he was that power puncher wasn't he? lol you really said that, unbelievable...

Williams was part of Murderers Row by the way, along with fighters like Lloyd Marshall, etc... Very talented fighters, often had to face off against each other often. Harold Washington was another I believe... I also seem to remember that Futch thought highly of Williams.

I do not know who else stopped him...Your a bad teacher Rusty, I should have known that along with Burley's lethal right hand lol.

                    It was Max Bauer.

                    Now your turn.

Tell me why Joey Maxim was better than Joe Louis.

I've poured a tall one, neat. I'm ready for this. Should be epic. No doubt some delicious irrelevant tangents will be sprinkled in.

You don't pour a "tall one" neat Rusty. You use a rocks glass, sans the rocks, or even a shot glass depending... The tall ones are for mixed drinks. Sheesh come on!

Ill just have to pour this beer in a Martini glass.
