Johnson versus Burns, Flynn, Moran, Willard, Jeffries, Ketchel...umm, those are the ones I can bring to memory off hand, and I've seen footage of them all except the Moran fight.

Dempsey versus Willard, Carpentier, Brennan, Firpo, Tunney (x2), Sharkey, Gibbons...I've seen footage from all of those.
I also have clips of all the fights you mentioned. Thing with butterfly, I really doubt he has seen any footage. His fight analysis consist of "Fighter A is a better boxer, and has more speed, he would outquick Fighter B". What a bunch of bull**** that is.

And that Dempsey KO Johnson in 4 rounds I laughed out loud at. Dempsey (the master of feints) would easily get outfeinted in this one. He would get outclassed easily. But then again, it's butterfly's opinion (albeit a crap one), so I shouldn't diss it.

How is it up there in Canada? It's burning up right now in Brooklyn.

Why don't you read the other fights before you start talking garbage? I did have johnson win a few fights.

            I was exagerating a bit
though i didn't think that many of Johnsons fights were on film but i was sure that Dempsey had more fights on film then johnson.

I don't usually agree with Butterfly but i think Dempsey would beat Johnson maybe not in 4 but he'd do it in under 7. Not because Johnson would let him but because the latter rounds were dangerous for Dempsey because his stamina would start to wear away. I think Johnson as an ok Fighter but he has a very padded record and a legacy blown out of proportion.

It's gorgeous up here where I am, Buterfly...fresh air, lush green trees on the mountains in the background, not too warm. Just about perfect weather for an old fart like myself.

Down here in the tri-state area it sucks. Raining like crazy for the last couple of days. Air thick with pollution and so many people just trying to cause trouble. I hate the Armpit of America.

Johnson's legacy has been blown out of proportion? What about Dempsey? You saw him get outclassed by Tunney didn't you?

Anyways, Johnson was just masterful at keeping opponents on the outside. And when they tried to get inside, he would just turn them and punish them. Johnson also looked really good when he would just paw out the jab, and stop a guy right in his tracks trying to get in. For all its worth, Dempsey's 'bobbing and weaving' is really overated. I see it as mostly wasted energy. He did have a good right hand though. It was really sneaky, especially when he looped it. It was his best punch IMO but I don't think it would fool Johnson.
