Your also forgetting the name "CHRIS BYRD"... yes Chris Byrd the fighter Lennox Lewis avoided like the plague, the fighter Lennox Lewis was stripped of his title for refusing to fight, when Byrd was the official No1 contender. I would fancy a few fighters on Wlad's resume to give Lewis a decent fight. Corrie Sanders the 6ft 5ins power-punching southpaw for one.
oh stop it your killing me!! The viscious Chris Byrd right oh! Your so funny the way you take paper titles and think they indicate ability....Charlie Z says Vlad ducked him and Sonny BOy? HE HAS A TITLE!!!!!! Yeah the viscouls byrd man Lennox was so fraid he might have gotten powdered to death.

byrd was a very good heavyweight despite being feather fisted. lennox obviously wasnt ducking him out of fear of being beaten but I think he thought it would be an ugly stylistic fight so decided against it as he also did with ruiz

      • Honestly Wlad is very close to lennox in terms of quality wins..

        Byrd twice
        PETER first time
        Brock
        Sultan
        Povetkin
        Haye
        Thompson
        Are all credible wins

If wlad can add fury and wilder to his list then it becomes even closer with lennox..

Hurts wlad that vitali took care of Chisora, adamek, arreola because those would have been solid wins as well

I agree 100 percent...and he was right to do it. Byrd was very talented. Sonny Boy just brought the worse out in me. Truth is though Lewis against either of these guys would have been a horrnedous fight and Lewis did have bigger fish to fry at the time.

Floyd Patterson was `anything but` glass chinned. His chin was vastly superior than what Lennox Lewis chin was. Patterson lost two fights by KO in his entire career, his achievements are incredible and will most likely never be surpassed. Floyd was the youngest ever Heavyweight Champion and the first fighter to ever regain the title (undisputed). Floyd turned pro in 1952 at Light-Heavyweight and was ranked the following year. He went on to be ranked as such.

              Light Heavyweight

              1953 7
              1954 4
              1955 1

              Heavyweights

              1956 Champion
              1957 Champion
              1958 Champion
              1959 2
              1960 Champion
              1961 Champion
              1962 1
              1963 7
              1964 2
              1965 2
              1966 4
              1967 7
              1968 10
              1969 Unranked
              1970 Unranked#
              1971 7
              1972 5

Between 1953 and 1972 there were only two years where Floyd Patterson was not ranked in the top 10 by Ring Magazine. He has an unbroken streak of 15 years ranked in the top 10. This is an incredible 19 years over which he was consistently operating at the elite level.

He entered the heavyweight rankings when Rocky Marciano was champion, and bowed out of them under the title reign of Joe Frazier. This is a remarkable accomplishment given that he was a small heavyweight with an offensive style, fighting in an era of dreadnoughts.

Floyd Patterson was ranked in the Top 10 for more years than any other fighter in history. He actually became a better fighter after his two defeats to Sonny Liston and was terribly unlucky not to be given the decision over Jimmy Ellis in 1968 which would have seen him reclaim the title for a third time. Floyd busted up Ellis over in Sweden. But was not given a fair shake... Floyd vs Chuvalo in 1965 was voted "Fight of the Year".. Floyd suffered "slipped Disc" in his back against Muhammad Ali in 1965 in a great fight for the title. He beat good fighters like Bonavena & Henry Cooper when they was in their prime. Floyd continued winning right up to his final fight in 1972 against Muhammad Ali. Again Floyd put on a brilliant performance, right up to the fight was stopped due to him being cut over both eyes. It was a very sad end to a brilliant career because Floyd was right in the fight, winning rounds with one judge having the fight even at the time of the stoppage... Floyd fought excellent punchers throughout his career like Chuvalo, Machen, Quarry, Ellis, Bonavena, Cooper and only Johansson & Liston beat him by Knock Out. Floyd Patterson was a truly brilliant fighter and you Ned should be ashamed of the comments you have labeled against such a great fighter. Lennox Lewis couldn't lace his ****ing shoes.
I know you like to underrate Lewis but this is taking it a step too far.
Yes I know who Floyd Patterson is, spare me the history lesson. It's funny that you rubbish Lewis' title reign but exalt Patterson's championship accomplishments when his title reign was a complete joke. Defending his title against the like of Pete Rademacher who had zero pro fights and bums like Brian london and Tom Mcneely. Yes he was certainly a very good fighter in his day but it isn't inaccurate to say that he had a glass chin. He was floored more than any other HW champion in history at 20 times. Yeah I know he had heart he got up many times but getting floored on that many occasions showed his chin was thin. He also wasn't even a real HW by modern day standards.

I just don't see Lewis with his physical gifts and technical proficiency having any problems dealing with a glass chinned boxer who he is outreached by 13 inches, shorter by 7 inches and outweighed by more than 3 stone.

Wasn't Chris Byrd fighting on no-network TV at the time?

Obviously Lewis wasn't fighting him being a big HBO attraction.

They are respectable wins. But honestly, when mentioning TT on a list of good wins, you know your resume is weak.

Add Chambers instead. Much better win.

                  • Chris Byrd was a nobody who had no power and would stink the joint out every fight but Sonny will try to convince everybody that Bryd was a huge threat.
He also thinks Lewis was terrified of John Ruiz and was ducking Corrie Sanders for a decade

                      That was ******ed.

The thought of Lewis ducking Ruiz (who HBO declined) is laughable. Or Byrd for that matter.

They would both have been squashed like a g****.
