Mercer is a much tougher out than Clinton woods... You know this
No, that's not true they lost when they stepped up not just when they fought Lennox.

The same crap you're saying for Roy Jones opponents.

Is there a point in there?
I think his point is that RJJ can't be ranked among the upper echelons of ATGs because his resume is shallow and could have been much better.

Which this thread clearly shows isn't the case.

What isn't the case? That Roy's resume is kinda shallow compared to other ATGs?

That aint no lie. It's truth. If we are just talking H2H prime abilities Roy is easily top 10. but accomplishment wise he isn't. you have to factor all of this **** in imo.

            Compared to the best ever.

Not compared to the likes of Mayweather, Oscar, Lewis, Trinidad etc.

He has a better resume than all of those.

Top Twenty Lightheavy with fast hands and feet, with outstanding athletic
              ability!
HoF type talent and an exciting boxer to watch.

I rewatched some RJJ fights the other night. I had forgotten how boring and what a disappointment he was in the ring. Pick a RJJ fight at random, and it is likely to be disappointing. He would not fight, and really does not belong to ATG because of his lack of fighting spirit. Other ATG's would have made the lilly-livered one fight.

He had no chin. He would have needed one against other ATG's.

Jones was held back by his dad. Despite that he did wind up fighting some top guys Toney, Hopkins, Mccallum...I mean compared to slappy his resume is grand. I will never understand how people who idolize Jones are proud of his heavy weight fight against Ruiz. This fight was a departure that bifurcated his career disasteriously.

Jones and Mayweather both destroyed their careers by being too careful. I think they both have the same mentality.

Roy Jones and Mayweather are both legends and both arguably the greatest fighters of their era and both top 50 ATG's.

Not exactly what I would describe as "destroyed career's"

No one is putting any of one guys but maybe floyd in a top 50 atg list..

Roy went 9 years in his prime and had no big fights, prior to that he had one major fight with toney..

His mw reign is pathetic,, just name the guys he defended against..

His super middle reign is just as weak, just name the guys he defended against

Lightheavy he beat a bunch of old faded names, or never has beens, or paper champs.

Heavy he beat one of the worst paper champs ever

Roy fought one guy in his prime that was p4p and that was toney...
Oscar, floyd, manny etc all have more than 1, way more than one...

I never realized one major fight makes a deep atg resume
