Where does Roy Jones rank?

Roy Jones and Mayweather are both legends and both arguably the greatest fighters of their era and both top 50 ATG's.

Not exactly what I would describe as "destroyed career's"

Careers unfufilled. not fighting the best when there was an opportunity. This does bad for a legacy. Its the knock on Roy and Mayweather.

If you are playing at the "top 50" range and we have guys who could have shown they were a lot better it is a shame. We could say for example that Fernando Vargez showed he was a very good fighter whats the big deal? well...there is a school of thought that says if he fought Tito later, or learned to control himself he could have been a very good fighter! or even a great fighter.

Destroyed means destructive and destructive is indeed what not striving for the top can do for a legacy.

His resume is clearly not only comparable to the top guys of the last 20 years it's one of, if not the best.

Tyson, Oscar, Hopkins and Tito? That's comical. Name one fighter on their resume as good as Toney or Hopkins that they actually beat. Tyson lost to Buster Douglas lol.

We got there pages ago.

We got there when "Prime Akinwande" "Prime McCall" and "Prime Shannon Briggs" are listed as "Major fights" whilst Jones blasting out Griffin is considered "coasting"

We got there when guys like Reggie Johnson get the "but who did he beat for his belt" treatment all whilst saying Jones should have fought JOHN DAVID JACKSON instead of Hopkins because he "was a beltholder"

This was all pages ago.

I assumed this debate was well and truley over pages ago.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Post Benn-McClellan Jones blasted out Montel Griffin in one round, brutally beat up and stopped Richard Hall, broke Virgil Hill's ribs, ans stopped Merqui Sosa.

In the Hall fight Larry Merchant was angry at the referee for allowing Hall to take brutal flush shots before stopping the fight.

That's been the rumor for years,, I even said I don't know if true,,, your grasping at straws in this one,,, since Internet boxing forums began, that story has been around,, I'm not breaking any news, we have all heard it, not sure if true, but it's great a widely known "theory" or "story" or whatever you wanna call it..
Maybe I should have worded my post better and began it with " a lot of people have said..." I hope you can see that I wasn't speaking as it was fact, just that has been the word, in response to a poster that said all roy did was get boring decisions...
