Yes I do believe there is an agenda out there that tries to blame Dempsey for the fight not being made, (I'm not saying that was your intention.) and that the NYSAC (Tammany Hall) was the biggest pusher of that agenda.

Anything the NYSAC says should be given the same level of validity as if it came from the WBC. Which is not much.

It was all very political, and Dempsey was almost as much a pawn as was Wills.
Ok. So did Farley want the fight made, or did he just want to blame Dempsey for it not being made? I'm willing to listen to the tale.

      For the record.

The SABR web page got lazy when it came to researching the non-baseball elements of Frazee's life.

The Dempsey-Wills $350,000 offer was made in March of 1922, not 1920.

Here is Frazze's offer (NYT March, 5th 1922)

Here is the City of Boston's refusal to host the fight (NYT March 6th, 1922)

You got to love the fact that Boston wasn't even asked but still saw fit to say no to the fight the very next day.

Frazee then tried to get New Jersey on board (Boyle's Thirty Acres) and he got refused there as well. No mixed fights in New Jersey was the answer.

Frazee had a three day news run and disappeared from the scene. No venue available.

      It was always very political.

They wanted the fight made. It was Tammany Hall's agenda, they wanted the fight and they wanted it in New York. Big money!

Thanks for doing the work QueensburyRules was too lazy to do.

But I get the feeling he isn't going to like the quotations regarding Kearns not being interested.

Don't know what this was supposed to prove anyway. I really do think Queenie has a form of dementia.

The problem: You posted a quote from "José Sulaimán" and wanted the readers to believe some sort of unbiased statement was being made. I just wanted to bring the quote into proper context. You know, "Just one more lying SOB."

Farley is a 'Sulaiman' you shouldn't give him credibility. The entire history of the NYSAC reads as nothing better than a sanctioning body looking out for its own interest.

I don't see where you've discredited him at all. I'm still confused about what you are trying to do by saying he wanted the fight.

Yes. He wanted the fight. I don't see any issue with that.

                    Did you know about this?

The James A. Farley Award is the Boxing Writers Associations highest honor, awarded to those who exhibit honesty and integrity in the sport of boxing.

I'm not saying it means anything definitive. I'm just saying...you have to admit that's pretty funny in hindsight of our convo
