Wills wasn't fit to carry Tunney's jockstrap.
Langford scared the Shlt out of Dempsey.

    But not Harry.

How ****** do you have to be to keep mentioning Langford's name in a Dempsey conversation, knowing that Dempsey basically admit to the world that Langford made him shlt his pants?

Maybe if Wills were actually a good fighter and not a scumbag he would've gotten a shot?

      • Wills nor any black heavyweight received a title shot, except Johnson, from the sports inception to 1937. A black heavyweight received a title shot once the American culture had evolved to a point to accept it.

I'm surprised with your inherent lack of contextual history combined while stirring U shlt brew of toil and bubble cackling trouble that U ain't a DKing protege wannabee.

Dempseys title reign is similar to most prior heavyweight champions. Most took the title on the road fighting exhibitions as did Dempsey. Most spent time drawing audiences appearing the theatre, plays, vaudeville. With Dempsey the new media was motion pictures. So in the end it’s absolutely critical to look at any history in the context of the time it occurred and not project different era norms upon it.

I'm surprised that you keep writing to me after how many times you've embarrassed yourself Mr. Harry Wills vs. Dempsey in 2020

Dude, you know as well as I do that the American public was calling for this fight at least by 1922.

A green Dempsey admitted he was no match for a very seasoned and prime Langford. Yet, it was Langford himself who said that Dempsey was the greatest fighter he ever saw. Casual fans like to overlook and dismiss that fact. The two of them actually had great respect for one another, only casuals and antagonistic clowns would say otherwise.

That's what armchair historians who rely on hundred year old anonymous news clippings seem to forget....Tunney was far better than Wills, so much so that Wills ducked him for what would have been his biggest ever payday. Wills was more content to carry on lawsuits than to take on a challenge he knew he couldn't win. He was never a match for Dempsey, let alone Tunney. Sharkey and Uzcundun proved that. Wills, like Johnson, relied upon his size and weight advantage to take advantage of smaller fighters who were more naturally middleweights or LHW. All one has to do is watch film on Wills, Jeannette, McVey, and see how woefully over-matched they would have been against Dempsey or Tunney.
