That's not to mention all the games played in New York.
Here's Commissioner Farley saying unequivocally that politics were NOT the reason that this fight wasn't to be, and saying he doesn't believe Dempsey would ever fight.
I have heard it said that politics is responsible for the failure to bring Dempsey and Wills together. To those who have mentioned this to me I have replied that such a thought is ridiculous. I know of no political or official opposition to such a bout and I have talked with many prominent and powerful men on the subject. On the contrary, I find that there exists a general demand for the bout.

same article:
Never saw U response to the most credible Dempsey/Wills purse and venue in 1920 when Jack not having his assets frozen by Kearns as they and Rickard were still great buds.
Oh the eternal shame of the skulking shameless until Gabriel blows his horn!!!

Quoting Farley (NYSAC) is like quoting José Sulaimán (WBC); amusing to read but meaningless in any search for the truth.

I thought I beat up Travesty enough but he is back for more.
One can find articles to try to prove almost any point of view. The story as to why Wills did not receive a title shot has been very well known and understood for nearly 100 years. As is the reason only one black fighter, Johnson, got a shot at the championship from Sullivan in the 1880’s until Louis in 1937.
Bottom line is that Wills years later was asked why he never fought for the title. His response was that those that controlled boxing did not want the bout to occur and had it been up to Dempsey they would have fought.
But then again this is all very well known and understood history.

And right after, I'll be expecting you to post about the contract that Dempsey broke. Deal? Let's see the info.

Never happened, but you're welcome to keep lying to yourself.
In fact, I'll make easy work of you this time if you decide to step up.

Is that the bottom line? Last time I heard that, it was stated it was from the 1920's, which was obviously a forgery. So do you have any other article regarding this from years after?
Not that it matters. This topic is very simple.
1. Did Dempsey sign a contract and break it?
2. Did the promoter live up to the contract?
Let's see if we get some answers from you. And see who gets "beat down"
