Stevens obviously has solid pop but how can you be deemed a "huge puncher" when he hasn't even fought anyone who can take a punch, outside of Golovkin.

We have people saying he's one of the hardest punching MW's in the world.

It's like you don't need to see things happen anymore for it be a legitimate.

Stevens didn't even earn his top 10 ranking so there is no justification in labeling him to be more than he is. This was nothing more than a stay busy fight and should be treated as such.

To the guys in the NSB, it's like last night Gennady beat a prime Hopkins.

I've seen him move his head side to side on attack and try hard to keep his moves small and slight so he has balance to throw counters.
Its very difficult to fight guys like GGG is getting because once the feel him they move away. Its not easy to catch up to a mover, he does a nice job with his steps to cut the ring down and his jab is outstanding when he does it!
Not sure what people are looking for out of this young man but what I see is a 160 with pretty heavy hands and its refreshing to see him work out of a boxers stance to land hard shots. He's not a plodder or a swarmer he boxes first then brings power off his jab and one two's! Sorry but thats impressive to me I don't see alot of guys doing it and the so called p4p kings damn sure aren't doing it. This guy forces the action and looks to control the fight then end it!!! What more do you want thats real pro boxing, if you think Mayweather and Hopkins styles are exciting thats fine but to me their boring as hell. I understand and appreciate their skills but whatever happened to bringing excitement and passion to the ring? Ray.
I'm sure Corso will find some way to take this as an insult, but this was an excellent post that I agree 100% with.

To me, Hopkins and Mayweather do not fight alike at all. I always see the comparison but it doesn't change the fact that I think it's a silly and inaccurate one.

They fight alot alike defensively with their movement and ability to control fights with there jabs,,,,
Hopkins is alittle bit rougher, and floyd alot more smoother on the offensive end,,,

I think they get compared alot because they can do all the things in the ring,,

            they counter punch
they lead and walk down a guy
            they work the body
            fight on the inside
            fight off the ropes
            trap guys against the ropes

they basically are the only 2 guys that can do everything in the ring,, hopkins has slowed alot due to his age,,, but he is still a tough fight for anyone,,, floyd is still performing at a very very high level and offensively he is a much better fighter,,,

alot of people are agreeing with ray about ggg above average defense,, but he really hasnt faced any top guys yet so i think his defense is still a question mark,,,,

macklin, rosado, stevens, ouma, proska,,,, good wins but GGG has yet to face anyone with solid career victories,,,, none of those guys have any good top level wins,,,

I hear a bunch of you acting like stevens doesnt have power, he has never beaten anyone, well neither has any of ggg's opponents,,,,,
please name all the great victories of macklin and rosado, etc,,, those guys are good fighters, but none are elite top 5 in a division type guys,, they are all 10-15 type guys, maybe rosado and macklin are bottom half of the top10,,,
But so far GGG hasnt beaten anyone of note,,,,
His resume is like cotto at 140 with torres, corley, pinto, pauli,,, good fighters but none had accomplished much

Yet guys are saying GGG's defense is above-average,,,, but yet stevens has no power,,, how the hell can you even tell at this point,,, it makes no sense and alot of hypocrisy,,, ok i agree that stevens hasnt shown much and isnt a top10 guy,,, but then to turn around and claim that ggg's defense is above average, when he hasnt faced anyone above average,,,,,,,,,
No one knows how good ggg's defense is,,, because we have only seen him fight mediocre average competition, that didnt even want to fight after the first punch landed, they have all gone into survival mode,, so how the hell do you know he has above average defense,,,, let him fight froch and we will see how good his defense is,,, until then quit acting like you know how good ggg's defense is,,,,,

I pretty much agree with what you said. What I have a hard time understanding is why that is considered "boring" if you are a fan of the sport. Many of the things Ray Corso loves about Golovkin are a part of what Mayweather does in the ring.

yeah, i dont find it boring at all,,, i love watching floyd and hopkins break down guys,, like hopkins did winky or tarver,,, it may not be action packed but he is slowly breaking them down

the thing that attracts people to ggg is that he ko's everyone,,, much like a prime tyson or manny,, when your boxing and ko'ing guys,, that is the ultimate combination,,,

From what I've seen Golovkin's defence most certainly is not above average.

i agree dan,,, im not going to say he has horrible defense but im not saying he has good defense either,,, we really dont know because he hasnt fought any offensive threats yet,,,, let him fight chavez jr, froch, serg, geale, quillen,, when he fights those type guys we will know alot more about his defense,,,

i think the only question marks about ggg is:

                      1. stamina in a tough long fight

                      2. defense vs a top guy

everything else is pretty much known about ggg
