  • GGG-stevens a throwback 80s fight

Is it me or does GGG-stevens fight this weekend reek of being one of those classic slugfests/ko of the 80s

remember all the fights from that era with curry, norris, mugabi, jackson, mccallum

They all were very explosive fights and all ended quickly when these guys were matched up, and they usually ended up being a 2nd ko,,,
Do you guys remember these fights,

    Norris vs mugabi
    jackson vs norris
    curry vs norris
    mccallum vs jackson

I think we are going to see that type of fight with GGG-stevens,,, im so excited

I am always excited about a Golovkin fight, the only difference I see though is that Stevens doesn't stand much of a chance. That's a comment that could bite me in the ass by the end of the weekend but I really can't see Stevens doing much. I think Golovkin will steamroll him very early.

The amount of quality middleweights at the end of the 80s and early 90s was amazing, and so many punchers amongst them. Unfortunately I was too young to know and enjoy it when it was happening.

Also McCallum vs. Curry was a good fight in the '80s as well.

I kind of get the comparison but Stevens hasn't really accomplished anything like those 80s fighters did.

Still it's a good matchup for GGG since all the other top middleweights are either already scheduled or just don't want to fight him.

Same could be said for terry norris,, he had been brutally ko'd before but then put it all together vs mugabi and went on to have a HOF career,,, not saying that will be what stevens does,, I just think now that he is down at mw instead of 175,168 he will be a much bigger threat,,,
I like GGG alot, but have yet to see his chin-checked,, wouldnt surprise me if GGG was dominating the first 5 minutes and then got caught by stevens, kinda like khan-garcia or jones-tarver 2,,,,,,,, I have seen crazier things happen in boxing,, I still favor GGG, he is the obvious favorite, i just think we will see some fireworks in this one and it will be like all those great fights from 80s and early 90s

            I wouldn't say so, no.

Mainly because Stevens isn't very good and is going to get obliterated.

Exactly what I was going to say. I don't get the excitement some have. GGG is going to nuke this guy.

It's only exciting if Stevens hurts him. He sure isn't going to outbox GGG. This is the proverbial "punchers chance", which usually means he needs to get lucky.

Only thing we can take from it is to get a little more of a gauge of Golovkins chin because it seems to me that Stevens has a decent punch.

If he gets caught. I think this could be over before that. 1 or 2 rounds maybe.

If someone wants a throwback war, Tyson Marquez-Gio Segura is the fight to watch.
