Do you have a NVQ in trolling?

Ray has trained top-tier fighters and has been around the game for decades.

You're still posting about how to keep your hips from spinning around.

Or lamota I know Robinson was out weighed but come on.

If anything jones took alot of ray robinson's moves and used them him self and improved on it.

He could brawl and take a punch better tho ill give you that.
1: When Robinson was defeated by Gene Fullmer in their first fight he was 35 years old, he'd turned pro 17 years earlier, had 145 pro fights and had returned from a 3 year retirement 2 years earlier. Fullmer was also a great middleweight despite having an aesthetically displeasing style. Robinson avenged the loss a few months later landing possibly the greatest left hook every thrown to knock Fullmer right out, Fullmer had one of the greatest chins in boxing history. How old was Roy Jones jr when he was knocked out by Antonio Tarver? 35 years old.

2: Jake LaMotta was the only man who beat him when he was in his 20s, LaMotta is an all time great and probably a top 5 (or at least top 10) middleweight of all time. Robinson avenged the loss 3 weeks later! He also beat laMotta 4 more times on top of that.

3: Carmen Basilio was another all time great, Robinson was 36 when he lost their first fight and was 37 when he avenged the loss 6 months later.

4: Robinson was a smaller man than Jones. He fought many bigger men and beat them. Robinson was fighting at the upper limits of his size when he fought as a middleweight, Jones was fighting at his lowest limits as a middleweight. Therefore talk about who would or would not beat such and such at middleweight is grossly misleading.

SRR was virtually untouchable until he was in his early 30s. He was something like 128-1 before losing to Randy Turpin. A few fights later he challenged for the Light Heavyweight title and almost won. THEN he retired and came back over 2 years later. At that point he was in his mid-30s and started losing.

But not losing that badly as he won and lost and won the middleweight crown - that is the undisputed, unshared crown (not a f**king belt).

Roy Jones was great. No doubt. Re Basillo. Yeah I think a 36 yr old Jones (the one who was sparked by Tarver and beat by Calzaghe) could very well lose to Basillo.

This post is so damn "wrong" its hard to pick a place to start. Jones may have been faster in absolute terms but quicker? hell no. Roy wasn't beat by any fighters he should have been? BETTER COMBOS!!? Jones lost to freakin Johnson...very much a pressure fighter in the "Basilo" mold.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT jONES FANS!!!? They have to be the most delusional individuals. Roy was a great fighter with unorthodox technique, gifted physical attributes. He managed to beat some great fighters...but lets remember that these figters never got a real rematch (don't talk to me about that second Hopkins fight)...Toney could have done a lot better and Nunn might have beat Roy.

Oh and lets see how many rematches R Robinson had with the people he beat and got beat by. Roy could not even solve Tarver after a lucky punch....

I'm fairly confident that LaMotta would beat Jones. Fullmer would also be in with a decent shot of winning, too, as Jones was young whilst at Middleweight. Jones would probably beat Basilio, although Carmen was a natural Welterweight.

Robinson was well out of his prime when he lost to Fullmer and Basilio, who were both great fighters, but despite that fact he also holds wins over both of them. Jones never had an impressive win once he started to slide.

ray should not be compared to Roy head to head although he may have done well against him. Ray is a natural weightclass smaller than Roy. As for the class of opponents Ray has the edge pound for pound. Both are physically gifted fighters but Ray has had the better career.

                      - - Ray turned pro at 130. Roy turned pro Day Before Weighins at 154 meaning he at least 164 come fight nite, and he promptly moved to 160, won a title against a HOFer and moved to 168 for era reference.
