Monzon had some lackacaisacal (sp?) Habits, but they never seemed to affect his performances.

I would agree about Napoles, though I still think he's underrated historically.

he was a chain smoker and a womanizer but his gas tank never seemed to show it.

Max Baer. Story goes he was hardly ever training. Yet, he could compete with the best heavyweights of his time and terrorized most of them. He was a very big guy for the era. Massive with an unshakable chin until he faced Louis, immensely strong and frighteningly powerful. His ascension to the top reminds, for the first part, to that of Tyson or Foreman. His boxing skills were very limited. He had a tremendous overhand right but not much else. Had this guy trained and learn, the sky could have been the limit.

I would disagree to an extent. Certainly no technical wizard, but Baer's skill improved significantly over the course of his career. Based on the fights I've seen of him in his prime, he is at least as fundamentally sound as today's heavyweights.

                      Buster Douglas...

You could see what he was capable of when he was focused and in shape, against Tyson. Then he immediately turns around and shows you what he was really all about, dedication-wise, against Holyfield.

He had everything you'd want in a heavyweight except the true heart.
