You’ve obviously never been inside of a ring and competed. Holyfield had every advantage over Qawi, including age. He had the amateur pedigree and was an Olympic bronze medal winner, over 170 fights. Qawi learned to box in prison, not nearly the level of competition available to Holyfield. He was much taller too. Getting off to a late start in boxing doesn’t get any easier as you get older.

I didn't call you any names either, unless you're claiming "genius" is a horrible slur, now.
You just made point point because where were most of those at 33 years old?
Outside of Archie Moore virtually all of them were past their primes, which was my point
Louis was getting outboxed badly by Walcott
Langford was losing to Harry Wills 3x
Dempsey was retired
Charles was done
Robinson was losing to Tiger Jones.
Like I said, before the past 10-20 years, 33 was past prime for virtually every athlete in the history of sports, not just boxing.
Was the field of avaiable athletes deeper back then that mid thirties guys were pushed out by younger studs?
Or, has large size become so dominant that the pool of men big enough to compete at the professional has gotten smaller, thus allowing older big guys to stay competitive?
Or has other opportunities for wealth driven would be athletes away from sport, and again made the pool smaller?
Has nutrition, training, and medicine advanced so much that men are aging slower?
Has technique (in all sport) become so advanced (and difficult to learn) that older guys with mastery can out perform younger athletes still learning, thus extending their careers?
Is it that the baby boom generation suffers from peter pan syndrome and the next generation will see a return to younger athletes?

Here's the way I see a fair match up. If we could put Joe in today's time. Now we're talking about a 225-pound prime Frazier. It's not fair to put one era against another. More than likely you never saw a prime Frazier. This man before the Ali fight cleaned out the HW Division.Comment
