A 33 years old man with only29 fights on hjs clock is not over the hill.
Thats my position and I stand by it.
If that's the hill you wanna die on, then cool

But history says that you can be over the hill at any point if you have hard fights and age takes a toll on everybody.

Was the field of avaiable athletes deeper back then that mid thirties guys were pushed out by younger studs?

Or, has large size become so dominant that the pool of men big enough to compete at the professional has gotten smaller, thus allowing older big guys to stay competitive?

Or has other opportunities for wealth driven would be athletes away from sport, and again made the pool smaller?

Has nutrition, training, and medicine advanced so much that men are aging slower?

Has technique (in all sport) become so advanced (and difficult to learn) that older guys with mastery can out perform younger athletes still learning, thus extending their careers?

Is it that the baby boom generation suffers from peter pan syndrome and the next generation will see a return to younger athletes?
These are all good questions and I think it's a combination of things

        1. Older athletes tend to be wealthier & these days "sports medicine" can extend careers in legal & illegal ways.

Just look at Tom Brady & LeBron James & Rafa Nadal all performing way past the age that guys used to because they can afford to take care of their bodies and stave off the ravages of age.

        2. Bigger American athletes tend to play football & basketball now, leaving guys like Deontay Wilder (who was a failed basketball player) to dominate the sport

        To be 100% honest, I think it's more 1 than 2.

Natural athletes age the way they've always aged.

Nobody gets better in the mid 30s unless they're on something, we say that with Bonds & McGwire & Clemons in baseball.

We see how GGG has aged naturally because he's (most likely) clean.

I think most athletes were probably clean until the 1980s or so, which is why they usually fell off a cliff in their early to mid 30s.

        Now, I'm not so sure.
