While he may not get bennies from you personally from dying young, I don't think it's deniable that he DOES get a boost in his reputation with a lot of fans from it. I'm sorry but Corrales was a good fighter, but not a great one.

And who did he really brutalize? A Freitas who was never really that good? An over-glorified club fighter like Manfredy? Gainer? Who are the very good fighters that he brutalized? Diego lost two out of three to Casamayor and his sole win was a highly debatable split-decision.....and Casamayor isn't exactly one of the greats either. He's a very good, but not great fighter. So I don't see it really. I'm sorry but I don't have emotional reactions to fighters I find entertaining. Corralles was a good, entertaining fighter.....but I don't confuse his entertainment value with actual in-ring greatness.

I agree Corrales probably isn't an ATG based on what he did, but what he did have was huge size for the weight, and a big punch. Remember he was unbeaten when Floyd beat him, and while you are correct in what you said about some of his opponents, he was a very dangerous fighter. The fact that Floyd beat him, and not just beat him but absolutely humiliated and outclassed him in a drawn out 10 round flogging, is pretty impressive.

I think Floyd would have been too mobile for Arguello. Arguello was a great fighter but he relied on precise power shots which he needed to set his feet for. You can't keep trying to line Floyd up, he will just move and pick you to shreds as he finds more ways to do so.

No disrespect to the late great Alexis Arguello but Floyd would beat him and would beat him easily

No. And that was at 147, not 135.

as others have said, bad style for arguello. Having to reset his feet and not have too much of a chance to land his power punches. Floyd wins a wide UD

I agree that he wasnt a great fighter, but he was a very good one. Just as the opponents you mentioned were not great fightrers. But Manfredy was very good and so was Casamayor and Freitas. All time greats? No. But these were good fighters and certainly not "club fighters" You don't have to be an all time great to be considered good.

I don't rate Manfredy at all. He was entertaining but like Arturo Gatti he got b1tch slapped whenever he moved up in class. An entertaining club fighter and no better. What was Freitas' claim to fame? His only win of note was a narrow decision over Casamayor. Acelino was a puncher who got overrated like all punchers do. Better than a club fighter but still not what I would consider top opposition. I did point out that Casamayor was a very good fighter and a legitimate contender but, again, Corrales lost two out three to him and it's seriously arguable that he deserved the nod in the one he did win.

I'm sorry but Mayweather is twice the boxer of either Arguello or Duran, and would easily demolish both.

147 or 135 Mayweather is to mobile for Duran.

BTW, Pretty Girl Floyd is half the fighter Ray Leonard was and I seem to recall Duran beating him.
