Ring Magazine ''Alexis Arguello Would KO Floyd Mayweather''
Collapse
-
Floyd is just Arguello's style nightmare. Vilomar Fernandez was able to use his skill, footwork, and boxing skills to outpoint a PRIME Arguello.
Fernandez is no were near as skilled, fast, or as good a boxer as Floyd. Arguello was extremly flat footed, and liked to load up.
Floyd just picks him apart with speed & movement. Arguello may be the greater fighter, but Floyd beats him in a fantasy fight.Last edited by Underrated Jab; 10-17-2010, 01:23 PM.

Mayweather stands in the pocket, fights inside, rests against the ropes and waits for the other fighters to get close to punch so he can counter.
To me, that's inviting to get beaten much like he did against Castillo. Unlike most other opponents, Castillo was able to counter and waited on Floyd to lead more. It's quite similar to how Duran fights, but at half the skill level, speed etc.
I love Mayweather fans that don't even know or understand how the guy fights.

Leonard's tactics in New Orleans weren't exactly delivering a whitewash: Duran was only down a point or two on the cards at the time of "No Mas". Pot-shotting and running like a b1tch (plus mugging and clowning) was not a game plan that would find favor with judges in 1980.
