Hagler also wasn't wild. I'm not sure what you consider wild, but Hagler wasn't. If you consider Hagler wild with the punches he throws, then you'd have to say the same about Calzaghe.

See, check out this video. This shows Hagler highlights of his KO's. He is shown here at his wildest, when he has guys hurt and is trying to finish them. It all looks damn accurate, relaxed and perfectly considered. Nearly the opposite of what you are saying. Again, in what is widely considered one of the wildest fights ever seen in ring history, Hagler's shots are under great control, and most land to the body and head. In that sort of brawl, he looks anything but wild and with the huge power shots he's throwing he lands very accurately and seems to throw exactly the right punches at the right time. That's not wild.

Calzaghe throws more wildly than Hagler does.

He also gets hit by wild, winged shots.
Here he is taking a swinging shot by Salem when he's rushing in (rather wildly) with his chin up.
Thank you Benny. You wrote exactly what I would have. I guess someone had to bother. Sorry for freeriding.

Too bad we are talking about a prime Hagler, so the Leonard fight is not very relevant.

Bad example. Hagler was very past prime and Ive never seen Calzaghe execute that same kind of fight plan as srl in any of his fights either, He tends to come forward, not fight backing up.

Its a shame a blueprint fight doesnt exist (that I know of), which would give us a chance to see how this fight could play out.

Joe can't slap his way to victory in this one.

Calzaghe is not a very good fighter. He has no chance against The Great Marvin Hagler.

I would likely pick Hagler to win just because I know what he's capable of but there is a great chance that he would get beat.

Roy Jones at LHW would have torn them both apart. Perhaps even Marvelous at middle.
You think Hagler would beat a prime light Tomasz Adamek at 175. You cant be debated. Whats the point of debating whether Calzaghe could beat a MW at 164, if you think Adamek would lose at 175.

By the way if Hagler fought Adamek at 175, 2-3 fights before he took on Dawson, Adamek would kill him.

I mean youre a fan its cool, im not bashing on you or anything. Boxing needs fans and if you arent a fanboy of someone you probably arent a fan of boxing, but theres just no debating Joe vs. Marvin if you think marvin beats Adamek.

Blueprint: Calzaghe vs Eubank (when they were going toe to toe)
I can see this fight being a brawl in the middle of the ring, with neither guy backing down. I think Hagler wears down Joe to win the later rounds and win by ud
