I agree with everything except Benitez is not better defensively than Floyd. He's better offensively though.

in terms of physical they are very much similar.corrales was freakish for his weight as was hearns and both had freakish puncher.there are very few fighters in history who had a bigger punch at 135 than corrales.yes, mayweather throws less combos at 47

I may have over stated my point and wouldn't argue with this. The simple fact is though, defense is not going to win this fight. No way does pot shotting take away from all Hearns effective aggression in this fight. If you couldn't out brawl Hearns, you couldn't beat him. NO ONE ever outboxed Hearns and there is no way Floyd would do throwing as little as he does at 147.

I agree Corrales was freakish at 135. But Hearns is bigger and better in every department at 147, and Floyd simply doesn't fight the same as he did at lightweight. That is a recipe for disaster.

mike tyson once said everybody has a gameplan till they get hit.id like to see hearns reaction to missing and getting potshotted and id like to see how mayweather would take his punch.if floyd can take tommys punches id pick him to win.i cant see a k.o by any strecth as floyd plays it to safe

The thing is, while Corrales was pretty tall at 5'11" for 130/135, he didn't fight tall and had a pretty short reach. Good power and excellent infighting ability, but not comparable to the WW Tommy Hearns, at all. Also Floyd isn't the same fighter at 147 that he was at 130/135 either. Also, while Corrales was a brawler, Hearns had the ability to be great at both. I still believe he could've outboxed Hagler had he not got ****** into a brawl.

I liken it to Adamek and Haye moving up to HW, their styles changed completely to a much more safety first style. And Floyd's safety first, potshotting style is not going to beat Tommy Hearns. Floyd has the defensive ability to last the distance in this one, but by doing so he will lose a wide UD. By trying to make it close, or win, he stands a chance of getting stopped.

Shrink Hearns down to 130 and fight that version of Floyd, you might have a different outcome. And I think Floyd is higher on a p4p ranking, but this is just a terrible matchup for him.

Totally agree, no one ever outboxed Thomas Hearns not even Ray Leonard

                    Hearns by decision.

I think Mayweather could withstand Hearns' punches, without getting knocked out. Hearns out-boxes him, though.

From what we have seen so far Hearns by murder or shutout.
Hearns would stalk Mayweather and stop him. If not a stoppage a Ud as Mayweather somehow finds a way to survive.
