Muhammad Ali was hated among Americans due to his willingness to be outspoken for racial views about injustice and also not supporting the Vietnam War. Hence why white Americans favored Joe Frazier while the black community favored Ali. However at the same time it was wrong for Ali to put down Frazier and call him a uncle t0m. Thats a justified reason why back in those days why a ( white American) would hate Ali. I already explained why he had critics. It had nothing to do with critics doubting his skills. There's no critics that challenges Ali's resume, skills and his all time status. There's literally none. Could it possibly be that he beat the best guys on his resume in their primes. Because the main criticism for at least two of those fighters is they overmarinated fights, cherrypicked, and needed every conceivable advantage.

If the criticism of shortcomings of your favorite fighters is so widespread, shouldn't that mean it's not just invalid.

Ok. Take Ali off the table because he is clear cut and its not a fair comparison. A fair comparison would be Mike Tyson who never beaten an elite fighter in his prime. Hes not critique and his all time placement has never be challenged and he has never been discredited by the masses definitely not by the American or international media. What about Canelo? he picks his fights and fights fighters on the decline. I don't see people discrediting him. He even failed a drug test and people act like it never happened. They even discredited his lost to Mayweather. The list can go on.

Tyson Fury hasn't beaten a legit hall of famer in their prime. Neither has AJ the UK fans dont seat up and beat them down and discredit them like how people do these three. Pacquiao fought many people at catchweights when he got to a certain point. Every point you bring up i can find a boxer to fit that narrative in the past 25 years. None are more hated then these 3 successfully boxers.
