Foreman even in '91 was all wrong for Mike and he knew it.

George at that time was not much slower than in his prime and besides speed was never his forte.

But there is only so much Don King can do to get the fight to happen if his own fighter is refusing vehemently(and can get away with that because of his value).

We can say many things about Don's character, screwing over people etc. but what everybody can agree on is that Don made the big fights happen. That is a fact. He's got the resume to prove it, and I think we can all also agree that Tyson vs Foreman would have been absolutely massive and broken records.

George Foreman post-boxing pretty much went on a tour praising every boxer he talked about including his former nemesis like Ali. Once he was done he only opened his mouth in a positive way putting everyone over himself even if it was untrue, with the exception of the one time he claimed he was poisoned before the Rumble in the jungle.

Now, if you were to watch how Foreman talked at the time when he was still a mean guy behind the persona trying to win the title back, he called out Tyson many times and made it obvious he wanted a piece of him and knew he would have destroyed him. He very bluntly stated that Tyson would be an easy fight because of his style, and in fact part of his decision to make a comeback was to get a fight against Tyson so he could be champ again.

Yes I agree and we need to recognize this as an example of, all those offers & guarantees we read about from the past. They have about the same lack of validity as this information does, and shouldn't be used to accuse a fighter of a 'duck.'

In prize fighting an offer is still quite a ways off from a deal.

But when he was retired & had no reason to lie, he said something different?

While he was competing, of course he's going to say whatever it takes to entertain the public & keep people interested.

He had a lot less reason to lie after he retired & could be honest.

And why wouldn't he talk up Muhammad Ali? He beat him & was the best HW of all-time.

Fact is, there is no time in which Tyson/Foreman makes real sense.

In 1990, it couldn't happen because Tyson lost to Douglas & has to rebuild against Tillman & Stewart

In 1991, it couldn't happen because Tyson got tied up with Razor Ruddock, who was the #2 ranked contender by all weight classes (Tyson was #1)

Plus, Foreman lost to Holyfield, who Tyson was supposed to fight.

1992, Tyson doesn't fight

1993, Tyson doesn't fight

1994, Tyson doesn't fight

1995, Tyson gets out of prison, misses the first half of the year & fights McNeely & Mathis to get back into fighting shape

From that point on, Foreman isn't even really even in the discussion & is fighting people like Axel Schultz

I can't show the contract and they did fight. You can't show the contract and Tyson-Foreman didn't happen. There was no contract, just a proposal.
