I know less about the Bowe and Lewis situation, but I am sure Bowe had reasons for dumping the WBC belt beyond 'he was scared of Lewis'.
I don't buy that. I think the problem is us not the technology.

Make everyone post under their real name with a photo of themselves, instead of the masks we wear and then let's see how people act.

Real names/pictures might reduce some of the more egregious abuse and provocation but I am dubious about whether the quality of the discussion would much improve.

No offense to anyone. But Margie is still the only guy on here I would be interested in meeting. I feel I know everyone else well despite incognito efforts. He is much harder to know.

I can copy and paste from Box Rec too.

Here is a soucre that is not Box rec.

The boxing match between Daniel Mendoza and John "Gentleman" Jackson took place on April 15, 1795, in Hornchurch, Es***, for the English Prizefighting Championship.

Mendoza, a skilled and celebrated middleweight of Sephardic ***ish descent, was the reigning champion, known for his speed, durability, and scientific boxing technique. Jackson, a taller, heavier, and younger fighter from a wealthy background, was a skilled pugilist with only two prior professional fights.

The fight lasted nine rounds, totaling about 11 minutes. Mendoza started strong, but Jackson gained the upper hand by the fourth round, landing a significant blow to Mendoza’s eye. In the fifth round, Jackson controversially grabbed Mendoza’s long hair with one hand and pummeled him with the other, a tactic ruled legal under Broughton’s rules at the time. This left Mendoza exhausted and defensive, and by the ninth round, Jackson knocked him out, winning the championship.

Mendoza, devastated by the loss, harbored resentment toward Jackson and later struggled financially, turning to teaching boxing and running a pub. Jackson retired immediately after the fight, having competed in only three professional bouts, and focused on promoting boxing and running a London boxing academy, where he taught nobility. The fight influenced boxing rules, as hair-pulling was later banned, prompting fighters to wear their hair short.

                >>> Jackson was underhanded. If not for the hair pull , who knows who would have won.

I didn't copy and paste from Box Rec,I posted the ringside rounds by rounds summary from Pierce Egan.

You think you know something about this fight?
Tell us which rounds Mendoza won?

Jackson did nothing illegal in that fight and he wrecked Mendoza in10 1/2minutes flooring him multiple times, with Mendoza going to the floor several times to save himself from a ko. Finally badly beaten and exhausted Mendoza could not get up and Jackson virtually unmarked, was declared the winner.

Jackson did not retire immediately after the fight in fact 9 years after it,when Mendoza issued a challenge,in the Daily Advertiser Jackson immediately accepted, stating he would meet Mendoza any time any place.Mendoza never replied,it was then Jackson officially retired.

As usual you don't know WTF you are talking about, whereas I have the best primary source anyone could wish for as far as the LPR is concerned. Boxiana!
Now stop making a spectacle of yourself, you are out of your depth!

Tell us which rounds Mendoza won? - Bronson66

                      @ Bronson66

Jackson had three fights ( 2-1 ) , with Mendoza being his last. That was it.

John Jackson was underhanded in the Mendoza fight as I said. Mendoza won the third round. No charge.

The fight started slowly, with a minute elapsing before a blow was struck, but by the third round Mendoza appeared to have the better of Jackson with bets now being made at 2–1 in his favour

                      There you go,

You own Boxinina? Which volume? Somehow I doubt you own them all.

On 15 April 1795, Mendoza fought "Gentleman" John Jackson on a stage at Hornchurch in Es***. At a muscular twenty-six, Jackson was five years younger than Mendoza's thirty-one, four inches (10 cm) taller, and 42 pounds (19 kg) heavier. Two hundred guineas, or a little over two hundred British pounds, were laid on each side, and the future King William IV was among the audience. The bout was only Jackson's third professional fight and the betting was recorded by Pierce Egan as having been in favour of Mendoza. Jackson, however, won in nine rounds, paving the way to victory by muscling Mendoza into the corner of the ring, grabbing his hair and pummeling his head with uppercuts using his free hand. Mendoza managed to come back up to scratch after this, but was soon knocked out. Jackson beat him into submission by the end of the ninth round. Mendoza asked for a foul for the hair pulling, but it was ruled to be legal at the time. Many pugilists, such as James Figg and Jack Broughton, shaved their heads to avoid the possibility of this, until hair-pulling was eventually banned in boxing. Mendoza retired after his loss, and though he attempted boxing comebacks, he never again enjoyed the same-size audiences or received large purses] Although Mendoza continued sparring tours well into the nineteenth century, 1795 marked the beginning of a steep decline in his popularity and for the most part, his income. He very rarely appeared in the London newspapers after this period, and had lost respect with much of the public.

In 1799, Mendoza contracted a debt and ended in Carlisle Prison. Though he was bailed out by friends in the Freemasons, he later served another six months. With great connections, though a convict, he was later appointed Sheriff's Assistant to the County of Middle*** in 1806, though he would have to evade prison again in later life due to mounting debts.
