Liston-Liston was taken to St. Francis Hospital following the fight and emerged hours later with six stitches under his left eye and his left arm in a sling. Eight doctors consulted and came to the conclusion that he had torn a shoulder muscle and the injury was debilitating. Dr. Alexander Robbins said, "There is no doubt in my mind that the fight should have been stopped."

The Miami Beach Boxing Commission ordered Liston's purse withheld after the fight. When asked why, commission chairman Morris Klein said, "We just wanted to make sure everything was all right." After the doctors' report, the commission was satisfied that there was no wrong doing and allowed Liston to collect his purse.

Jack Nilon, Liston's adviser, said Liston hurt his shoulder during training, but they decided against postponing the fight "because we thought we could get away with it."

Years later, author David Remnick spoke to one of Liston's cornermen for his book, King of the World: Muhammad Ali and the Rise of an American Hero, and was told that the shoulder injury "was all BS. We had a return bout clause with Clay, but if you say your guy just quit, who is gonna get a return bout. We cooked up that shoulder thing on the spot."

Take U dum dummy up with the Hospital Docs, not some slimy mob cornerman.
YOU said Liston dislocated his arm,he didnt!

Anyone who gets in the ring has balls.imo What a man will do in one instance ,does not guarantee,he would do the same in another

I think it would be fair to say,Vitali redeemed himself in the Lewis fight.

Frazier in the third Ali fight was willing to die that night but Futch stopped it.

Patterson toughed it out with a blown out back against Ali until ref stopped it in the 12th.

Tex Cobb had no path to victory against Holmes and took a lopsided beating in every round.

Of course these are not modern day examples.

Just out of interest, chris eubank snr said years ago that the best thing anyone can say about him was that even when all was lost and he had no chance, he still got back up to carry on.
That was what he wanted to be said about him by fans.
I see on some videos that seal team 6 and sas and the like say the thing that makes them what they are is the fact that they never quit. They find a way no matter what. never quit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pienOH07czU this is a good video about trainers who refused to let their boxer's quit.

                The answer is simple.

                Joe Frazier.

Exactly yes. I believe the men were tougher and more hungry in the old days. Nowadays they are just after money and fame, apart from a few guys like Inoue.
