I guess that post clears that up for us.

I once heard a sport' writer justify boxers talking in the third person because after all, who wants to be a guy who makes his living getting punched in the face.

For boxers, it's disassociation, and understandably so.

Rap artists do it often as well. Do you rap?
Interestingly enough, Nash rapped for many years, from 16-25, and even made it to a major final performing infront of Sony Records. That is behind Nash now, but, Nash is/was a rapper and a very good one. Many strings to Nash's bow. Nash out - His Majesty

Nash you are a star! Without doubt. I nearly always agree with you.

Dempsey knew (by his own admission years later) that after the seventh round in Tunney 1, he was not going to win. But he locked his jaw and went the final rounds, determined not to get knocked out.

In the end his face was busted up real bad.

Dempsey chose to take the beating, Liston chose to quit.
Larry is my favorite boxer !!! I totally agree. That was a mean Jab he had.

            - - Tubbby Lar who was still skinny then was the GIANT SU CKING sound after Ali, Frazier, and ultimately Norton retired after he beat up Lar only to get robbed by the usual suspects hired by King.

Praise the Lord and pass the biscuits for Mike Tyson who cleared up fetid mess for a short time in his first go round.

Holmes probably had the best lateral movement of any heavyweight not named Ali, and one of the best jabs... No matter what your pickled brain thinks of him. He also managed to get rid of the sucubus we call Don King and retire with money and businesses.

Damn dude that's messed up. However we got to see Tyson get beat up more times than Holms so either way it's all good in my book.

Well it's an uncomfortable truth for some but Tyson was stopped more times than any other top 15 heavy in history.

As for prime Holmes v prime Liston.

Sonny much harder jab, Larry much more accurate.

Larry talks **** a lot of the time but at heart is a good man.

                  So was Sonny.

Holmes put the bone in someone Queenie loved
it destroyed any bit of sensibility he had..no other way to explain this.

Oh boy, this is a fight where any type of outcome can happen. Ko/Tko either way or decision either way UD,SD close decision or side decision.. even a draw.

I think outside of Liston landing his best ( which would KO /TKO Lewis if that happens ) Lewis has an edge in hand speed and enough height / Reach advantage to out box Liston.

With Lewis his ego is as big as a downfall as his chin, BUT I think he would take Liston seriously.

Liston's chin level is largely untested and he never fought a skilled super heavyweight. His resume of wins is very small next to Lewis.

Best guess is Lewis UD by a few rounds.
