He agreed to fight Jeannette in New York and agreed to fight the others in Australia.

I reread the title of this thread and am insulted! Shouldn't I get at least credit for a points victory over Queen B?

It's kind of like playing in the mud. You're already well respected here. Queenie is at best tolerated. lol. Sometimes he's ok. He's stubborn like the rest of us, but he has an increased dose of foolishness. Try not to get your hands too dirty!!!

          Washington state's Freddie Steele.
Sure, he's a Hall of Famer and the geeks do pay homage; but when invested fans rattle off their list of great Middleweight Champions he is seldom mentioned, which is a shame.
Indeed, Steele was arguably the greatest fighter-athlete ever.
Ray Arcel, whose opinion we should all respect, tabbed Steele as one of the best boxers he ever saw. And brothers & sisters, the trainer of Benny Leonard and Roberto Duran and many in-between saw em' all.

            - - Jeannette and Wills published their history of Jack Johnson and his ducking black title challenges.

Johnson was a known liar, woman abuser bordering on sociopathy.

Hence his affectations of an English accent and Education reflecting a rare intelligence designed to get what he wanted.

I suppose he had mind control over other fighters, managers, promoters, who all bore witness to the accepted offers...?

Just stop. This information has been posted many times here. I already told you. I don't want you quoting me just because you are lonely.

                - - As I mentioned, JJ had his best chance in France to fight the premier black challenges of Jeannette and Langford since they were also fighting there for his newly stripped title that turned out to be a classic. Didn't want to regain his title because he was aging in such a fashion that a rawboned cowboy with a limited record whooped him in Cuba...SuperYeah!!!!!!!!!

How was he stripped if after their fight he was still the champion? He lost the title in the ring.

And you've lost your mind in a bottle long ago, apparently. Go away.

Yeah they, the French, stripped Johnson of his title. Then staged a McVea-Langford title go. It meant little.

Then the French commission recognizing its total lack of actual power, despite its authority, reversed their decision and JJ was still champion.

The power of the lineal title at play. A commission can't deny it, even when they try.

The NYSAC tried the same crap with Dempsey 1922. Threatening to strip him of title recognition if he didn't sign to fight Wills in 90 days.

Kearns brushed off the threat and come the 90th day the NYSAC did nothing (except lose the possible revenue to Dempsey's next fight.)

Sanctioning commissions were as stupid and limited in power back then, as are the sanctioning bodies today.

Yeah, JJ did get stripped and it meant nothing.
