Brother, you’re acting like a snarky woman.

I replied initially correcting you in earnest. You simply replied with a link to unreliable Arum (which doesn’t place dates or a timeline and I think relates to when eventually Leonard came out of retirement).

You then flipped your argument in line with my correction, and then became upset when I highlighted the fact.

It is well documented that Hagler wanted the immediate rematch which Leonard denied him, when the opportunity finally came Hagler didn’t want to play Leonard’s game and had enough.

The writers on this site have even covered it.

Idk if you’re not old enough to remember it but it was all over the press.

Let me rephrase for you. Why do you think Hagler avoided the rematch with Ray in 1990 when offered? Is this a little easier on your delicate senses? The original post was left open ended (opinion based) to create conversation. You must have misunderstood that.

Every fighter who has ever lost a decision has claimed he wanted a rematch (right after the fight.) So if Hagler did, it meant nothing.

Every move Hagler made before and after the fight said he was one and done.

          - - The whole of AOL were the vast majority who hooted Ray and Lar off the board.

We hashed out a lot of history including a photo showing Dempsey and Wills signing a fight contract that failed when Dempsey's check bounced. Wills' check cleared that was substantial enough that he purchased an apartment complex that saw him in fine fettle during the Depression that saw retired fighters returning to action for paydays.

U was too puny to bother with.

            - - And to be clear, Ray retired for the umpteenth time after his Marv embezzlement.

            Boxrec informs:
            • Hagler announced his retirement after watching his half-brother, Robbie Sims, lose to WBA Middleweight Champion Sumbu Kalambay by a 12-round unanimous decision on June 13, 1988. Unlike Leonard, Hagler stayed retired. He moved to Italy and acted in several action movies.
            • There was talk of a rematch, but it never happened. Seth Abraham, who was president of HBO Sports, said, "Marvin made it very clear — he thought he was jobbed and he was never going to fight again. And he never did. There were conversations, but they were never at the level of negotiations. If people say Marvin wanted the fight and Ray didn’t, that’s revisionist history."
            - - Marv obviously wanted the rematch, hence negotiations which is where conversations start. WE the AOL majority remember the day Marv retired, Ray unretired so as to continue his lucrative diva career of jerking around fighters and fans that l'l floydy and he daddy adopted.

In my opinion Ray's existence stopped Tommy from being in the discussion with Robinson as the ATG welter.

He was a once in two generational talent.

Just stoping by to defend my name. I had zero to do with his ban. Maybe he has made his last post? Best guess is he will be back under 5th poster name. Are you calling me a btard? Be carefull now Bill.

I think he knew he blew it.

He had his chance to be the fighter of his generation, but blew it by letting Ray Leonard off the hook.

He lost that fight legitimately because he was trying to embarrass Ray Leonard instead of beating Ray Leonard.

Now I don't believe this was a duck. Hagler retired and stayed that way. Had he come back and not tried to avenge, that could be called a duck.

Was he just tired of boxing? It's politics? Or did he think Ray had his number?

I personally think he was frustrated he lost the decision. An old adage in boxing was you had to beat the champ, meaning convincingly, to win the title. While i initially had him winning, after watching again i had Leonard winning. In my mind it doesnt mattrr how big or small a win is. A win is a win. Could this have People played a part in why Hagler retired, or could it have been for other reasons?
Hagler was frustrated with the decision and felt he was robbed. He was tired of boxing politics, had nothing left to prove, and didn't want to chase Leonard for validation. He believed he won and saw no reason to fight again. Unlike most, he stayed retired.

You had a lot to do with his ban because it is a constant thing. Does he bare some responsibility for that as well? Sure... He was also just "defending his name." I guess he wasn't "careful?" as you put it.

Here are two ways to look at it: When you feed into a situation then we lose TWO posters... Regardless of what anyone's thoughts are upon relative merits. That is objective. As far as my thoughts? I have no reason to hide them, I really could not give two shiats what you think of them. I have been trying to get banned from this site now for over a year... seriously cuts into my wanking time! A btard is as a btard does...

BTW I gave a very cogent answer to the thread...
