@ Hagler fans. Hagler never got over it. He could have hunted Sugar Ray for the re-match. He did not say I'll fight you anywhere for 2 years. He retired from boxing young. Hence he did not want to fight anymore. If you carefully evaluate his career, his effort in big fights was lacking! There I said it. Too often he let the other guy fight his fight as did not press the action. He lost to the smaller man. Deal with it.

          - - Marv retired a year after the fight after making clear that the rematch was the only fight left that he wanted.

Thus Leonard lost a lot of fans like myself who had no tolerance for the way he started jerking around fighters like the Diva TBE TUE became...jus da facts, ma-am...yup, and gagging on Leonard all U want won't bother Valhalla at all.

So you were a fan of Ray before the Hagler fight?

So did you attack him with such vitriol then as you do now about making Duran quit? Just curious.

Hagler thought he won. So did a lot of ppl.

Srl retired. Hagler hung around about a year to try to make a rematch happen. Srl unretired once Hagler retired. Hagler never returned thus retiring while he was still on top.

Hagler avenged every loss and draw on his record.
Think Srl wasn't aware of that?

                    - - Sadly the average doltish boxing fan wouldn't know that.

I was a big fan of Ray and Marv before their fight. Ray checked out on me leaving me Marv, Tommy, and Duran as the top guys.
