The US was the center of boxing.

If he wanted respect, he should've earned it.
    Agreed!

Of course the answer is, he didn't want respect.

If he could make the money at home, stay home.

He probably doesn't give a rat's azz about us. LOL

He wanted money. It's prize fighting.

This whole 'legacy' thing exists only in our geeky universe, not his, I'm sure.

      - - If you want respect, you should be on a Badminton Forum, not here.
      • Michalczewski won the WBO light heavyweight title with a 12 round decision over Leeonzer Barber in 1994.
      • Defeated reigning IBF, WBA and lineal light heavyweight champion Virgil Hill on June 13, 1997
      • Won the WBO cruiserweight title in December 1994, beating Nestor Hipolito Giovannini, before returning to light heavyweight.
      • Made 23 successful defenses of his light heavyweight title from 1994-2003.
      • He came within one fight of tying Rocky Marciano's career record of 49-0

Yeah, that murderers row of old Virgil Hill, Hestor Hipolito Giovanninni, & a guy named Leeonzer Barber.

The WBO title wasn't even officially respected until 2006.

You might as well post IBO defenses

He has respect. He was the man who beat the man. It was the others that didn't have the balls to travel.

Oh and how did going to the US to fight a big star turn out for Axel Schulz and Felix Sturm? They got shafted.

              They weren't that good.

              That's the point.

The guys who were the goods did just fine.

They got robbed against Foreman and DLH. Had they won, history would look different. That’s the point.

It goes both ways. Those guys were certainly robbed, as other fighters were in Germany. It's a two way road and both Roy and Dariusz are responsible for the fight not happening.

The fact is Dariusz was content with being a big deal in his country, and never having to prove he was the best in his weight class.

Bottom line is that DM was the champion and Jones didn’t want to travel to get the title.
