I got intrigued by Marciano because I noticed everyone who had ever stepped in the ring with him seemed to be at a loss for words. Nobody could say anything bad about him after facing him, only before hand. This includes Louis, Ali, Moore, Charles. The only ones who had bad things to say are those who hadn’t met him or faced him.
boxing is largely a mental sport. Marciano is the definitive example of someone mentally strong. It radiates through his training habits all the way to the professional ring. Marciano had a very subtle and crafty style. He would sell his clumsiness to bait smart fighters into making mistakes and trading with him. He was a fine tuned killing machine. Made of steel. He perfected the art of leverage. Marciano was an incredibly gifted puncher. His transfer of weight and knowledge of his own leverage was phenomenal. His in ring focus was the greatest to ever do it. Most viewers won’t see these things because they aren’t readily noticeable. They won’t notice the explosive high velocity rounds he fires off in the midst of a deliberate display of looking clumsy and slow of foot. Only someone extremely comfortable under the lights can think like this in such a high pressure situation.
then there is the outcomes. He HURTs fighters. They aren’t the same afterwards. You can see the effect his punches have on them as soon as they land. Everyone runs from him once they realize what they got themselves into.
he would crouch down low and get opponents to reach down to try and hit him, on doing this they expose themselves to be lept up on and assaulted while off balance. You can see Louis struggling with it and adopting s wider lower stance in an attempt to count Marciano spider strategy.
