Simpson was mad they had put them in a tiny16 ft ring, which was to Marciano's advantage.

" I hit him harder than I have ever hit anyone,my best punches didn't seem to affect him."Marciano.

Posting the facts isn't degrading Marciano, nor did Bundana intend to.
It was a gimmee defence , the only surprise was it took Marciano 9 rds to get rid of a man who had been stopped 7 times already, once by a162lbs middleweight who floored him 3 times ,and once by a light heavy who floored him 5 times before stopping him in4 rds.
It looked like ****ell showed up to prove he wasn’t gonna get blown out in 2 rounds. Marciano chasing him around wildly and ****ell running for the most part. Then he got cute and tried fighting back , resulting in a bad beating.

Reminded me of Duran vs Lou Bizarro. A guy Duran was supposed Merk but ended up staying in there by running and surviving for a few more rounds than expected . There is something annoying about a guy who’s only goal is to prove he won’t get knocked out. It’s like he forgot it’s a fight.

    • Modern HW's are better. Take Martin Bake, he's like George Foreman 2x speed and more powerful. Nash out - His Excellency

****ell didn't run, he was always going to get beat, but he did his best, he went in there to win . Marciano didn't need all the fouls he committed, Don was no threat.

I say the Toney that fought Holy cause he was in better shape (for him) and actually came to prove something. Toney wouldnt even train for some fights, many he struggled with because hes obese and gasses so bad.

but that version of Toney, the best version of him and HW beats Usyk easy. Nothing Usyk does would trouble Toney.
Holyfield had nothing that night. I personally rank James Toney, who did have a fun later career run at heavyweight, as the number 65 ranked heavyweight of the past 25 years. I can't see placing him one bit higher than that. Usyk I rank no. 3. Some see the abilities of Toney through the lens of an odd mythology.

Not trying by any means to be disparaging of your thoughts sir.

Nah he ran, first 5 rounds all he was doing was trying to survive. “Sliding out” and not landing anything of note or value

you aren’t being disparaging of my thoughts. You are one of the best posters on this forum by far in my opinion

Holyfield was finished I get that, but going by Toneys weight, dominating performance for a former middleweight, and his performances as a fatter man against better heavyweights later on - its safe to say that was probably the best version of HW toney we saw.

I don†t know about ranking Toney higher, I just mean if they fought that night - Toney is a better fighter and would beat Usyk. Usyk really still fights like an amateur with that high guard. He is either punching or blocking. Sockem bopper style. My turn, your turn, my turn, your turn ….t hen tally the points

sooner or later Toney needs to be recognized for how great of a fighter he was in the contemporary era in terms of ability. Not only did he have great trainers and watched the right tapes. He was an old obese middleweight beating / getting robbed against top level heavyweights of the time. Toney wouldn’t even train for fights some times. It wasn’t that he was just fat. He also wouldn’t train. He ate burger king during some fight camps and just sparred.

Toney did this because of his feeling of superiority over everyone else he was fighting, but unfortunately you still have to be in condition to beat someone you are better than. This is why I say the night he beat Holyfield. He was a bit lighter, quicker and had better stamina at the end. He wanted to beat up Holyfield badly for some reason, more than the others. If Toney is obese and 255 lbs like against Peter, then Usyk probably has a chance to sockem boppem Toney and flail away potentially impressing the judges while Toney sucks wind on the ropes slipping 90 percent of them but catching a few grazing ones because its inevitable.

                - - Never seen a fighter save Blubber so humiliated in the ring as when Roy whooped Two Ton a new one. Lost to little Montell Griffin x2 and Fast Fres rolled him out the ring like a beer barrel...embarrassing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was watching a presser where Two Ton got mad at the press and challenged them to a spar. None took the challenge, but I would've because Toney moves like a slug and I've always been fast of feet and hands as my neighbors noticed when I used to beatup my heavybag and my lightbag. There's footage of Toney sparring Aussie LH Danny Green who also exposed Popkins as a coward without throwing a punch.

The one I saw Green moves around throwing punches whilst Two Ton follows like a punch dummy spewing BullyBoy profanities. This one is even worse than pitiable, the whole reason he now punchdrunk.
