Yeah, Liston was just way better than everybody at that point.

        Guy was a complete freak.

An insane reach with the biggiest, heaviest hands in the history of the division (that is known)

Watching the Night train come in:

                  1. Sonny used his jab as a power shot, a reach extender, a set up shot, and to create a feint/timing distortions
                  2. Sonny could throw virtually every punch, with KO power both hands, and excellent combination puncher. Watch Liston who seldom threw anything but a jab solo, instead always throwing punches in bunches.
                  3. Cut the ring versus the fighting line: Fighters that have a major advantage controlling the fighting line, advantages like fast feet and reach often pressure an opponent directly with no need to cut the ring. Think about Wilder, Fury for example, and watch how their reach allows them to control that fighting line with no need to box an opponent in... Sonny had both: relatively fast feet (for a heavyweight) and reach.
                  4. Sonny was a great finisher, who took his time and once an opponent was in his control, the fight usually was over.

These are some of the things one can see with tape of Liston.

Yup! Nobody close in history until Valuev came along and totally eclipsed Liston in all categories!

He was not a great finisher. I don't know why People Keep writing that.

He took 7 rounds to put away Clark despite hurting him badly Early.
