It is also hilarious when these people will try to use the old "This boxing "historian" said fighter A could beat fighter B". These people aren't anymore of a expert than anybody else who watches boxing. So because some biased white historian said a 160 pound middleweight could beat a 6'2 1/2 215/220 pound heavyweight then it must be true right?
They say he could had beat Jack Dempsey who weights about 185-190 lbs and Joe Louis who weighed in below 200 pounds at times. Smaller men gave the two fighters fits. In fact they knocked them out! No one is saying Greb could beat a modern day heavyweight with size and ability.

Cute story. Another thread here states that Greb could beat Ali. Also in another boxing forum I seen people say Greb could beat Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, George Foreman and Tyson Fury.

Also Greb and Dempsey aren't universally considered great fighters. Only white American males who realize there will never be a white American heavyweight champion keep bringing these guys up. You could add bring Rocky Marciano up as well.
Because Arcel said it? A lot more people than Arcel said it, and there is film of Grebs opponents. You know, all time great fighters still to this day?

Nobody here is talking about Greb beating those guys. The post was made to show how highly Greb was thought of. And obviously he had a chance against Dempsey. If he didn't than we might as well all admit Dempsey cherry picked easy opposition.

yes we should because Ray Arcel knows a lot about boxing and has 100x the experience to form an opinion. or at least acknowledge what hes saying. hes likely exaggerating to get a point across.

He saw Dempsey fight live, and when watching newer fighters he just sees how they do everything wrong, and exaggerates by saying Dempsey would clean them up in 2. Dempsey would beat many of them, but not demolish them.

Arcel and blackburn clearly understand boxing on the absolute highest level though, this would be pure ignorance to write their opinions off.

You seem to have racial issues.

Ray Arcel wasn’t “a biased white guy.” He was one of the best boxing trainers ever, among the many champions he coached to greatness was Roberto Duran in case you didn’t know. The same Duran who moved up in weight and beat the black Sugar Ray Leonard.

What does Duran beating Leonard have to do with what I typed? Lol Ray Arcel was white. He was biased for white fighters.Just like white guys are biased for Rocky Marciano or black guys are biased for Mike Tyson ect. My point stands. Anybody who thinks the 5'8 160 pound Greb could beat the 6'2 1/2 215-220 pound Ali is either brain dead , a racist, or both.

Lol anybody can form a opinion kid. But when your opinion is so off the wall ****** then you should ignore that person's opinion. Dempsey would beat zero heavyweight champions from Sonny Liston till now. Harry Greb the 160 pound fighter would beat zero heavyweight champions from Joe Louis to today.

Lol you aren't very bright are you? First off Dempsey wasn't a heavyweight by modern standards. Second Dempsey is so poorly skilled by modern standards that he makes guys like Deontay Wilder seem like boxing experts.

You have to one of the worst posters here. You are clearly clueless or just biased. You do realize boxing has evolved since 1910 right? Doug Jones was far superior in skill to anybody who fought doing Dempsey, Greb, or Tunney's era. The fact that you don't understand that tells me that you aren't really a boxing fan.
