So what's the big deal about this quote anyhow?

Roach would say anything to gain an advantage in negotiation; doesn't mean he actually thinks the guy is too good. Maybe he does, but maybe it's just negotiation BS.

The deal is it was in response to the poster talking about Pacquaio fighting Cotto at 145 as opposed to 147.

That was the same deal for Mosley when he went to the Wildcard to discuss the fight when Mosley was #1 in the division, except the number 143 was thrown around initially.

Point is, it was the same deal.

After 2 bad poor performances 147 was ok.

Mosley went to the Wild Card to meet about a proposed fight with Pacquaio. Freddie Roach at that time had a big say in Pacquaio's career.

When enquiring about the fight, Roach said 147 was absolutely not an option but they'd consider 143, Mosley responded by saying they fought Oscar at 147 and Roach replied by saying "You're too good to fight at 147 at this time".

That's from the horses mouth and a fact of the matter.
        - - Which part of movable dates do you not understand?

First Mosley/Marg, then Manny/Ricky. How about the Manny/Yoo Exhibition or the Manny Exhibition in New Guinea coming up?

          - - Mosley had no deal he could earn a dime on. Apparently didn't even have a mgr or promoter either. Just show up at Wildcard and pray Freddie there willing to give him the time of day.

I refuse to ask what grade U in, but U could volunteer if U can count that high...

            Yeah, it was after Mosley-Margarito..

            It was also after Pacquaio-Hatton.

            Where are you lost?

Mosley was the #1 Welterweight in the world.

Roach and team refused the fight at 147 lbs, it's as simple as that.

                - - U already been told he fought Cotto who had already whooped Mosley after. Cotto of course had a manager who arranged the lucrative fight, and they didn't arrange it through Freddie.

Cotto beat Mosley 2 years prior to that.

During that time Cotto got brutalized by Margarito, who then got brutalized by Mosley, making Mosley the #1 in the division.

The fact he fought Cotto is irrelevant to the point anyway you dumb fuck. The point is, they wouldn't entertain the idea of fighting Mosley at the 147lb limit, reason being he was "too good". To which that changed 2 years later after a lopsided loss and a draw with Mora.

This is an especially odd thread. I was trying to work through the fact the P4P and H2H are contradictory concepts when I glanced at the list. James Toney was never a "great" fighters, nor was Michael Nunn.
