If you say I believe it. But it just goes to show how bad his comp was. Johnson beat absolutely no one to be ranked in the top 10. Than he disappeared for good shortly after. Much like Williams. Sanders, etc. All one and done in the top 10.

Yeah I was quite shocked, to be honest. I wasn’t expecting him to be there.

No idea why he gained that ranking. Can’t see any logical reason why he would deserve it.

He wasn’t ranked in September, October or November 2009 either as I checked all those. But was #10 in December which I do find quite baffling.

Unsure on others on I’ve lost all my old ones. I only have from 2009 onward because that’s when I moved into my current house.

Thanks a lot - great job finding this!

Is it also possible for you (or someone else) to check, if Williams was indeed ranked going into the Vitali fight - as claimed by Dr. Z?

Edit: Ok, I now see, that you only have The Ring from 2009 onwards - so the Williams question must be for "someone else"!

Williams was not ranked in the October 2004 issue Since he did not fight after beating Tyson in July of2004 until he faced Vitali in December of that year.I can't see why he would be ranked in November of that year ?

Neither can I. But according to Cliff Rold he was #9 when he fought Vitali - deserved or not!

He beat Vargas , who in turn beat no one.

If Cliff said it it’s probably true.

I believe he writes for The Ring magazine or did.

He’s really good with those rankings, if he’s saying they’re ranked there then chances are they probably are.

He has an account on here I don’t know how to tag people, I believe his name is “Crold”

Would to great for him to clarify.

Cliff is right, no doubt. So how many ranked wins is that for Vits now, 7?
