Personally I expect Canelo to beat him convincingly and maybe stop him late.BUT.
I thought he did beat him. Canelo is a 154 lb boxer who moved up in weight. At best GGG sqeaked out a ud. I don’t rank the victory any better than Hopkins iver Trini or Hagler over Hearns, and those guys actually won decisively so I am being generous.

so no, not an ATG based off of that. You forget Canelo got absolutely washed by mayweather, probably the most dominating performance of Mayweathers career in regards to the level.

      - - Majority draw just like the Maidana fight that followed signaling l'l floydy spiraling physical limitations that saw him finish his career vs the shot drug cheat Berto, and then vs a debutante who shamed boxing experts by hitting l'l floydy 111x.

Oscar was removed from the Canelo fight incommunicado in a celebrity drug rehab facility so Bayliss could with impunity ride Canelo back for the first 6 rounds where Canelo was properly frustrated.

l'l floydy even had Bayliss ready for his Japan exhibition vs that little feather mma guy, riding the little tyke until he commanded the tyke to stop punching, at which point l'l floydy delivered le coupe de grace.

No shame for the shameless in boxing, so thanks for the reminder...

Though I wouldnt put GGG in the same class as Hagler, I think its important to state that Hagler and Hearns were notably closer in age than GGG and Canelo were; which could be argue played a role in the outcome.

Regardless, the Hopkins mention is what led me to a previous post, where then do we rate Hopkins, and along those line, where do we draw the line for ATG? Its a somewhat ambiguous term thats fun to use but can be difficult to pin down.

I thought Golovkin won the 1st fight and deserved a draw in the 2nd but he didn't officially get the wins.

            - - Poppy like the smart kid still in BarneyBigBoys in 1st grade.

Until he fought Tito, he was considered a 3rd rate DKing level champion.

Given his age I would say yes. I don't see him winning. I scored the first two fights for Golovkin, so the question then becomes, does beating a prime Canelo rank anyone as an ATG? How many more wins will Bivol need to be included in the discussion and who does he have to beat?

Is this his last fight? What will Canelo eventually achieve? How does he win? Etc.

IMO it's too soon for the discussion; not history yet.
I agree. Canelo still has a long way to go. He certainly took a lot more chances than GGG, who in recent years wasted away because he refused to take more than 1 fight per year - unless he was paid some absurd sum.
