I don't think we should give a weight limit to heavyweight because if a guy walks around at like 270 he has to get to a weight where he can throw punches and move... We wind up encouraging bad boxing.
What do you think about pre-fight dressing room weight-ins?

I like it all... anything that makes a contest more immanently what it is supposed to be. This would include pre fight dressing room weight ins because if I am told a fighter is fighting as a middle weight, the fighter should be so.

I also would like to see replay instituted, and the present punch stat system tar and feathered. Have six judges a fight, after the first round have three judges score it, look at replay of the round's seminal moments, while the other three judges score the next round, alternating this way so the fight can actually be judges accurately regarding when punches actually land, and not just if they look like they land.

        That's some I interesting scoring . . . I thought I was radical . . . I got to think about that a bit . . . Do the corners know the running score?

I believe it would be healthier for fighters to fight at their natural weight but I am not sure how to discourage drastic weight loss and rehydration.

I have no medical training but I have to believe that constant denial of nutrition has to make the body weaker and susceptible to injury and disease..

IMO we need to find a way that favors a fighter canstantly wanting to make himself bigger not smaller. (And of course not by using PEDS.)
Weight cutting is very dangerous. That's the overriding consideration. Its really amazing how much rehydration and loading the digestive system can pack back on. Ive seen 20 lbs. Put on between weigh-in and fight time. Its not safe, to say nothing of a lightweight against an equally skilled small middleweight. Remember Joey Gamache? Improving this day beforehand and rehydrating process has been tried a few ways including 2nd weigh-in with limits, target ranges.

One night I weighted-in at a hundred and six pounds (HS wrestling) at 4PM - next morning I weighted 122. No one ever believes me except my cousin Bill he was there for both weigh-ins.

The next day wright-in with a weight gain limit is a good start but I have a problem with it being (the usual) 10 pounds. Maybe a five pound limit would force the situation better.

I totally believe you. I wrestled too. Coach used to have us out running wearing plastic trash bags with cut outs for the arms. Thought nothing of it at the time, got rid of the water, but....WTF.

It's a halfwitted idea, to be honest.

At the end (I had a damn growth spurt during the season; 16 years old) I use to wear thermal underwear cover by a plastic suit covered by sweat pants, cover by a second plastic suit on top only, (no shlt) covered by a hooded sweat shirt with a ski face covering my face. I would turn on the showers to full hot and stand in the middle of the shower room filled with steam and do squats and pust-ups until I exhausted myself.

Strip down, get on the scale and see how close I was to weight, put the gear back on and start again.

I use to cut all my classes and spend all day trying to make weight.

My body finally broke down mid season and I got a viscous infection, missed three straight matches.

My coaches never should have allowed me to do that.

But can Beterbiev come in under 145 without cutting down?

Remember no cutting weight; one hour pre-fight weigh-ins.

                      - - I'd horsewhip em and then make em horsewhip each other.
