Its not a given that football has to be slowed down so much, but if it means getting it right isn't that important? How many replays are overturned? that should tell you all you need to know.
You can have the mechanisms in effect in boxing, just use more judges. The competancy should be all the more reason! I wouldn't even give half the judges that much!
What forum of replay are you two discussing?
For counting punches each round or periodically for settling disputes (NFL)?
