We don't want a NFL Quarterback 'taking a knee' in the fail round.
    - - Too many judges, refs, commishes already taking weak knees.

It's a fact that teams getting whooped badly tend to quit, but not necessarily the individuals. Team sports don't have The Instant "That's All She Wrote" KO option like boxing.

The only reason boxing hides it's scores is illicit ******** where the insiders have the winning tickets and the rubes the loser tickets. I believe when the WBC did open scoring for title fights, it was every three or four rounds leaving the last rounds still open to the the game changing KO or KDs.

The way boxing is currently run, it may no longer be a legit sport if it ever were.

The reduced number of weight classes is too awkward, but intermittent scoring has my interest. Here is how I would want it implemented:

Each set of judges scores only one round, and will see none of the fight up until the round they are assigned to score, and will be subject to no updates and fight chatter before their round. After they hand in their scorecards for that round they are free to watch the rest of the fight, but may watch none of it beforehand. Got it?

You know in one of those cheesy vampire movies where the guy makes the sign of the cross at the vampire? I sort of detect that kind of feeling when any sort of replay is suggested as part of the judging process... Yet the hand being quicker than the eye means that its pretty much a given no judge will see punches perfectly and can only judge on their effects. That means that if a great defensive fighter makes his man miss the mark, a real skill, the judges will have no idea.

Replay lets judges look specifically at pivatol moments in the action and see the effects of a blow, if it actually hit the target for one thing. And a good deal of a boxing round is spent positioning... so the judge would not have to watch much... just areas where there was action and possible blows, etc.

I believe replays will eventually become standard everywhere, already catching on.

I mean I don't need to feign ignorance! Its legit! Fellow posters can vouch for me! Everyone understands that a hand is quicker than the eye... It seems relatively simple and straight foward. If I slip a blow and it doesn't hit me, its different than if it hits me. It just seems like an issue that should not be debated.

                  - - Football and Baseball rife with extended committee meetings bumping up game times by an hour over the past 30 years by more studious professionally trained officials than boxing can come up with on it's best day.

We're generally talkin' C- grade school level competency at best with boxing in a collection of circle jerks during the one minute between round rest period.

Oh come on Queen B! Were baseball fans right? (I was a baseball fan for half my life) Do you give a fck when some idiot says in a Beta infused voice "well baseball is boring, it takes too long for action." Its not a given that football has to be slowed down so much, but if it means getting it right isn't that important? How many replays are overturned? that should tell you all you need to know.

You can have the mechanisms in effect in boxing, just use more judges. The competancy should be all the more reason! I wouldn't even give half the judges that much!
