Good post I agree.
People seem to be looking at post 1980 Duran then imagining him as a lightweight.

IMO Duran kills Shane in a competitive fight, Shane was a great LW no doubt but he would **** with Duran and get eaten alive in the late rounds.

Oscar isn't in the top half of the ATg list thats for sure but I think he is seriously underrated in head to head matchups, The Oscar leading up to the Trinidad fight was a beast, that robbery or SD kinda took something out of him (IMO he won).

I think he would have taken Mosely had the fight happened prior to that loss with Trinidad. I'd also pick him over Mayweather. He was so quick and could pump that jab out like a lighting bolt I couldn't see Mayweather taking him.

The establishment has some kind of grudge against Oscar. He's too successful, too talented, too independent, too rich and too goodlooking I guess...

Well, as I said I don't agree with it: I think Oscar is a legitimate ATG at Welterweight and dislike the De La Hoya bashing that goes on. Whether he should be considered a p4p great is a debatable subject. I tend to think that so-called "Golden Boys" and "Media Darlings" tend to generate a lot of unfair resentment and lead some to disparage their abilities.

Holy hell I would pay so much to see this fight. Mosley should win, but he has always been too willing to brawl and against Duran that beats you. If he used his speed and boxing skills consistently he would win the decision. Otherwise Duran would nearly stop Mosley a few times and win the decision.

O I wasn't comparing Duran to a Mexican fighter. But, Oscar De La Hoya wasn't the prototypical Mexican warrior either. He had good defense, was an excellent counter puncher, had a serious jab and left hook, and also had a great chin. Yet, Mosley beat DLH.

Mosley's LW legacy would have been enhanced if he wasn't ducked by the other Champions and if he fought Floyd instead of Oscar....Mosley would have beat Floyd back then methinks.

Style makes fight. Leonard is soft and cannot brawl. Mosley is stronger,hit harder and has a better chin than Leonard. Mosley can stand toe to toe with Duran and KO his overrated ass. Mosley after RJJ is the most athletic boxer I have very seen. Mosley is stronger than Duran. He bench press ability for a LW was amazing.
