Anyways, I would still rate a win over prime Leonard and handing him his first loss over a win against undefeated Holmes. Unless you're the only kid on the planet who ranks Holmes over Leonard. A win over 24 year old Moore is certainly as good or better than the win over a 22 year old Canelo. Remember, according to Floyd, Tank was "too young" at even 23 or 25 to fight Loma. Moore was the 154 champion and successfully defended his title three times before facing Duran. Duran was the 5-2 underdog, while Canelo was the 3-1 underdog.
Still picking and choosing because you have no good arguments.

If limited to subject X than in this case Y blah blah dumb bull****.

Okay, Leonard over Holmes....now compare the rest of Spinks' vs Duran's resumes.

but him were meant to be sum tin doe - is a ****** argument no matter how you word it

For one thing, he only had 32 pro fights next to Duran’s 119.

Spinks best wins were against Holmes 2x, Qawi, Eddie Mustapha, Yaqui Lopez, Marvin Johnson and Cooney.

Duran’s best wins were DeJesus 2x, Buchanan, Palomino, Leonard, Cuevas, Moore, Barkley, Jorge Castro.

Spinks a champion in two weight classes, Duran a champion in four weight classes.

Like I said, two great fighters, but Duran’s star shines a bit brighter.

Good call bringing up spinks tho, second greatest light heavy for me next to Charles. He's very underrated and one of the greatest alive today. I agree tho Durand star still shines a bit brighter. Him beating Leonard was like Ali's win over foreman only the level might have been even a shade higher, both of them were damn near prime.

He had a short career, because like most cokeheads, they burn short and sweet.

          Tyson Leonard
          Pryor

          Probably way more

It also should be said when judging fighters, to be wary of what the accomplished in their own era as opposed to comparing eras. Because the times and rules change, if Duran was around today he probably woulda have grown up with some type of foundation helping kids like him and feeding him. Coulda even got adopted by an American who knows. Floyd couldn't have managed his career so well in the 70s, since you couldn't market yourself that easy. Leonard and Duran would have ducked eachother today and stuck to making 5 million fighting easy fights.

Being stopped by such talents as Norris and Comacho so late in his career are not black marks against Leonard. I was never a fan but in the end Leonard was one of the ATG. His incredible hand speed, boxing skill, mobility, punching power and determination raise him to a very high level.

So if Duran & Leonard are consensus 1 & 1a greatest living, who takes third?

Jofre, Pac, Mayweather, RJJ, JCC, Hearns all gotta be in the mix. Is there anyone I overlooked?

Duran is the best Mexican fighter ever, as the man said in a neighboring thread.

Hard to separate leonard and Duran as 1 and 2.......leoanrd had a more spectacular career and comes on top as head to head so I go with Leonard
