    - -Ghost nanograms of a legal product found in Mexican food chain t'aint a taint. It exposes the mathematically ignorant...c'est la vie...

    • The Nash says that the four greatest men to ever step inside any kind of ring are - Tyson Fury, Rocky Balboa, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the Rock. Nash out.

So factor that in and he is no1 in my book, Duran in the same bracket but clearly more durable and fought more often but he had some dubious losses to lower calibre fighters... Hagler beat all comers for years, hearns was knocking people out for belts at 40lbs above his best weight. Floyd is in the argument, Pacquiao too. Sweet pea, Jones jnr and Holyfield all deserve a mention and currently you have Canelo but he has a bit of controversy regarding PEDs that taint his record.
Being the all-time greatest lightweight, then taking Sugar Ray Leonard's 0 at welterweight, puts Duran over SRL for me.

Jones Jr and Holyfield have even more of a PED taint than Canelo in my opinion. Minute traces of clenbuterol consistent with eating contaminated Mexican meat... vs being 5 or 6 times over the legal limit of androstenedione? Or compared to Evan Fields' human growth hormone?

        • Seriously? You honestly think a fighter with a multi hundred million dollar contract, expert medical and nutritional advice would accidentally happen to eat some dodgy pork? You probably think Sharapova genuinely had a heart condition and Ben Johnson just took more vitamins than the other sprinters lol.
Don't recall seeing any failed drugs test for Holy or Jones jnr but may have missed that...
Fact is Duran was awesome, but Sugar Ray beat everyone of the other 3 Kings, none of the others can claim that. He was the best imo. Great thing about boxing is we can make a case for our favourites.

            - -Canelo never "failed" a drug test.

Fact is Duran is awesome, but he never applied himself like Canelo did or like Manny did. You demonstrate an example of applying yourself fruitlessly, like watching the 1000 HP Camaro at the drag strip smoking his slicks while the 500 HP leaps out like a slingshot for the trophy.

                  - -Andro a legal over the counter supplement when Roy claims to have taken it. The drug testing values of he and his opponent's alleged positive drug result were never released, nor was B sample testing available then. In short, there was no FAIL.

Overall top boxers are the most tested and by verification the cleanest athletes in comparison to MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL, and the fans as you demonstrate, well, no need to go over old ground...

old fighters used drugs too, just the testing was so weak back in the day. I'm certain a lot of fighters were on blow in the 70's and 80s, ashpma pills, amphetamines etc - these cats were wild. if german soldiers used meth im sure the boxing underworld presented fighters with drugs. Duran openly admits in his book they injected him with adrenaline or something in the second viruet fight and he said his heart was racing.

I don't even think half the roids they use today are actually that beneficial, fighters use them because it makes them confident.

Conversely, look what Pac has done over the last decade: multiple wins over Bradley, wins against Thurman, Broner, Vargas, etc.

Now I don't think that makes him better, but to some greatness can be measured by accumulating achievements over a long period of time. And Pacs success as an older fighter is indicative of such. Its an apples to oranges argument until someone articulates the definition being used here for greatness.
Broner, Vargas, are not elite level fighters. Thurman was not in his prime, and broke his hand. Pacquiao has no equivalent of Durans win over a prime Sugar Ray Leonard.
