Its a misconception of of people to think Tyson was a great inside fighter, he was good but compared to some great fighters he wasn't. He often let himself be clinched when in close and did not have the strength to control people inside the clinch. He did his work mid-range, as I had stated before (this thread is far to repetitive). On the inside he was often clinched or did some work but not enough to consider him a great inside fighter; he was mid range.

Without putting Marciano in the picture (I know your not), I'll agree with you on that.

Mikes bone crushing power coupled with Marciano's horrible defense = massive KO.

Marciano always left his head open, I can't even see him lasting 30 seconds with Tyson doing that.

All of Mikes power came punching up with uppercuts and hooks. It would be tough for him to generate much power against Marciano with that crouch that Rocky fought in. Tyson KO Marciano in less than 30 seconds, damn where are my boots when I need them.

Oh, you're right, better to be awed by the impressive manner which someone knocks out tomatoe cans and bums, and make excuses for all the fights he lost and was knocked out in when he finally did fight quality opposition (or in the case of Douglas another bum.)

buster Mathis jr was an inside fighter, and Tyson wasn't even the "good" Tyson.

I can't see the comparison though, Marciano is still a 186 lb 5'10 fighter, slow as mud I don't even think he had the power to knock Tyson out contrary to what some of you believe.

He was 21-0 when he fought Tyson so he wasn't a Total bum, I'll admit Tyson did have problems with him, but buster Mathis never came near hurting him and he weighs more than Tyson did.

Mathis went down in 3 non the less..

I don't think Tyson ever fought a great inside fighter. Evander beat him on the inside, but Evander isn't a great inside fighter per se.

Exactly i still feel Tyson beats Marciano but i still feel a smart inside fighter with a good chin could beat Tyson i've seen Tyson's fights and one thing i noticed is that he gets tied up alot on the inside and he doesn't throw many punches on inside and thats one of the reason's why Holyfield beat him yes i know it wasn't a prime Tyson but the game plan Holyfield done is the exact tactic to beat Tyson by clinching on inside.
