    He didn't quit, he dismissed Ray in uncomplimentary terms. Ray ran from the rubber and Duran never close to 147 again.
    you mean Leonard when he beat hearns and because undisputed and Duran was losing to Kirkland Laing and Wilfred Benitez and that leonard ran away from the rubber match lol.
    Duran was sent to the wilderness and never became relevant again till 83 and beating Moore.....leonard was retired lol.
    Again queenie you have deluded memory of what actually happened lol

      And when he finally was relevant they made the fight happen in 1989. It wasn't even close.

            Leonard beat Duran in November 25th 1980
            Duran then resurfaced in august 1981 and had two meaningless fights and then faced Wilfred Benitez who comfortablly out pointed him January 1982 and then his next fight got out pointed by Kirkland Laing September 1982.
            By that time leonard had become WBA light middleweight and undisputed welter champion and had retired in may 1982 due to a detached retina.....please enlighten me how Leonard avoided the 3rd fight with Duran ....Duran was not relevant and if yiu studied that era like I did you would know this but you seem content to keep plucking fallacies out your over ripe ass.
            You need to learn some basic history from the 80s gumbo

              - -Plumbers Crack Logic 101 is it?

              He tried to secure the immediate rubber, but Ray knew he dodged a bullet and wouldn't until years later when Duran near 40 with umpteen rds in him cut up Ray and made him look like Rockys chicken.

                Eh, it's okay, I needed you to set me straight on that initially. But that's why I come here to learn. But some just never do.

                  No he didn’t he rang away to Panama in exile and even Don king refused to work with him...again your deluded and that’s not the facts are.
                  Duran had to regroup and earn the respect of the boxing world who was in shock and held contempt for Duran after he quit.
                  Even his manger left him at that time.
                  Know your history ffs

                    - -He owned DKing by loaning him $ so his conniving asss could promote a card Duran was on.

                    Duran = Tiger
                    Ray = Coyote

                      You are arguing that Leonard can't be held responsible for ducking Duran (when Duran became relevant again in 1983) because Leonard was 'retired.'

                      But Leonard wasn't retired Leonard would fight again and if by your own admission Duran was relevant again by 1983 then there was a rubber match waiting to happen. Why didn't it happen then?

                      "retirement" doesn't count just because you say it, it only counts when you actually retire, (see Bret Favre vs. Reality) until then it's not an excuse for dodging a fight, not when you will in fact fight again.
