Ali didn't have the fire power to keep Tyson off him; Tyson was considerably faster and hit harder than Frazier.

If Ali beats '89 Tyson it's the best performance of his life; like Pep winning one of four from Saddler. Could happen, but bet the other way.

Tyson did not have the will to win to beat prime Ali. Tyson said so himself.

          - -Ali said Tyson would knock him out on one of those night shows where he, Tyson, and Leonard appeared together.

Why U shame Ali for being polite and gracious as was the still prime Tyson then with his great HOF team still intact?

U no sense of honor and decency?

Ali was obviously joking while Tyson was dead serious. Tyson has repeated that thought numerous times over the years. He admits he did not have the will to win it would take to best Ali.

Yes, but he did have the punch and, especially, the speed.

In fact, the whole issue is: would a young Tyson have been able to catch Ali's chin for good? If the answer is yes, then Tyson would have probably scored a knockout win.

Incidentally, I wonder how Tyson could have said something different about Ali, given the latter's illness. It's called respect. Tyson is no Deontay Wilder.

Some of the hardest punchers in boxing history tried to ko Ali. They all failed. Ali, along with his will to win, had a chin of iron. Ali was a much higher pedigree than Tyson. After a few rounds of a beating Tyson will become a much more sedate fighter as all his self doubt rises to the surface. It’s a beat down from that point until the fight is stopped.

Ali at his best is a tough man to beat, his speed, reflexes, chin and IQ are next level. Considering a prime Tyson went the distance with people like Till, I don't see him beating Ali.
