I'll put my 2 cents here because it's a matter close to my heart... First of all, when you say most us us want to be independent, you are wrong. This Most of us people you talk about are less than 1% of the population..and I really hate it when one person such as yourself tries to speak for most of us thinking you know best....EXAMPLE: 50k registered voters voted for independence last election...out if 4 mil people...so please...educate yourself.
Second, I understand all you have stated about the military service and all. Trust me man, I'm a retired Tech Sargent in the USAF, born and bred in Ponce....and joining the military and serving my country is one of the best and proudest things I've ever done. And when I say my country, I mean the U.S. of A., because that's what we're part of. Every time they do a status census on the island, independence has never even come close to being an option. Why? Cause were not stupid. All this talk about strategic points and such is moot because so are the D.R. and Cuba..which both are much larger and can sustain themselves with agriculture...which we don't have...and their standards of lives are nothing compared to ours...
So please...for future reference...when you talk politics...talk about your own feelings....not what you think or believe you might know about MOST people..

It's Cotto who agreed to fight at 145. If he loses the fight, he's just going to be a paper Champion anyway. He just made 146 in his last fight. If it were 143-144, I'd understand. But he and his trainer said they could make 145 and they agreed on the weight. If he feels he's at a disadvantage then he shouldn't agree to fight.

I'm Puertorrican, born and raised... not like the fake ricans born in conus..(see, we even hate ourselves..lol) and to this day, my best friend is a gigantic mexican who was my supervisor while serving in the AF. Yes there's some animosity due to the citizenship... but hey, we didn't ask to be citizens...:boxing: Alot of people will say racist stuff here just to get a rise outta people... don't listen to them... I never met a mexican in person that offended me or that i didnt like...and i was stationed in Albuquerque for 5 yrs... Just a thought...

Im a Mexican and IMO Tito Trinidad was a better puncher but Cotto was a better boxer. Trinidad was a little shaky on his feet it seemed to me. Cotto seems to be a lot more rounded and sturdy fighter. Now I dont know who was bigger or more liked in Pr, What do you think?
It's kinda apples to oranges, but here in the island, TiTO is many times bigger than Cotto. Reason being is that Tito comes from very humble beginings, and everything he did, he put PR before it. You always heard TiTo, and still do btw, about being proud and fighting for PR. Always with a flag in hand. And when he came back from fights...jeez, the parades were huge at the airport. Cotto isn't that person, but that doesn't mean he's any less of a warrior loved by the island. He's too quiet and rarely gets people here rowled up. We support him like any other of out fighter...but ya know what?? After Cotto fights, in many households here... we go and put the old Tito fights on DVD... and finish the night like that... :boxing:
