Why do Mexicans and Puerto Ricans hate each other?

By looking through NSB and this thread it seems like its just a boxing rivalry which led into more hatred towards each other because of it. Definitely seeing that now because of last weekends fights.

It is just a boxing rivalry!!! Mexicans who live in Mexico and PuertoRicans that live in PR don't hate each other neither. The only wars I see are the ones that live in the states PRs and Mex. And the worst part is that they know so little about the country they said the are from!!!!!

No I don't. How is it understandable if it's two completely different fights in different places. Let's not mention the current trainer of Cotto is someone who inspected Marg's wraps and found nothing wrong. The only case you really have is the Marquez stans *****ing about Pac, other than that, usually I see them let it go. Let's not forget the Segura beating an "old" Calderon that we keep hearing. There is a difference between giving props after your fighter loses and bringing up suspisions after foul play was discovered. Granted it cannot be proven that Margs used plaster against Cotto, it can still be brought up for debate. What Truth is saying is sportsmanship/grace after defeat.

Because both Mexico and Puerto Rico dish out a bunch of champion-level fighters. So, what ends up happening is that they end up fighitng each other. Especially in the lower weights. The rivalry comes up because the best should fight the best. Both nations are proud nations (Stupid, as they had nothing to do with where they were born or where their parents were born, but I digress.) With pride involved, Mexicans -- for example -- get amped up when a Mexican fighter wins. Period. Then, Puerto Ricans feel the need to lash out. Typically out of anger. Same thing happens in reverse. It's dumb. Also, they are the same in many ways and different in others. Both groups feel the do the similar things better and then feel that the difference favor them. It's dumb.

Indeed... They will continue to shell out Mac & Cheese and Kool Aid and all the other little staples to keep you dependent. It's peanuts to them and it keeps you in check for that "check." Obama plays mister Socialist... down for the cause but his kids are too good for the very government schools the liberals think are good enough for blacks and latinos. Bush at LEAST was handing out $10,000 vouchers for those who felt their schools were terrible. The concept that parents can use that $10,000 to put their child in another school. The dems killed that program... Why? because their kids don't have to endure those terrible schools. Good enough for YOU and YOUR kids, but never good enough for their kids. And Mexicans dont hate blacks...... Mexicans dont hate blacks or anyone, people from Mexico always welcome foreigners when they visit our country. Maybe Mexicans and blacks in LA, and its a territory conflict.

I am Boricua, proud of where I am from. We tend to be extremely proud of all puertoricans that make it big, wether it be in sports or any other area. Our boxers become national celebrities and we follow them to the end. As a puertorican, I DO NOT HATE MEXICANS. I respect my mexican "latino brothers" and their rich culture. I am a big fan of many of their fighters like Salvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erick Morales, among many others. That being said, there are ignorant people everywhere, even in my country. I know there are many people out there that say and do things that can be offensive to others; but to hate someone because of where they come from or who they root for is quite ignorant. I think the competitive nature of both cultures makes the clashes between mexicans and puertoricans much more entertaining, but it should never be reason for someone to hate another person because of what flag they waive.

I find it sad that minorities think liberals are on their side. Trust me, i'm white and they don't care about you. They just want cheap easy votes. They aren't trying to help you at all and would rather see you stay poor.
