Bottom line is it shouldn't mean anything to Pacquiao whatsoever. Maywaether is just seeing Pac handle big strong punches from Cotto and wants to make sure its all legit...why should Pacquiao have a problem?
What fight was Roach watching? He needs to watch the tape. Kahn got knocked out on his feet twice in the fight. Good heart staying up but any other boxer puncher will ko him avoid Prescott, Martinez, Williams if he decides to go up and even Margarito at 147 at all costs.

WTF is Margarito's head made out of? I know desire and will make you stronger but those are some serious connections by Cotto. Damn Cotto should have done a Judah shot to the "top of the trunks"...
Habits are very difficult to break, sooner or later in the fight Hatton will get too excited jump in with his hands low to attack the body and get "chin checked" with one of those stiff straight right that shocked DelaHoya and that will be approximately 1 rd and 1/2 tops from the end of the fight. Next stop Pac vs. winner of Mosley v Cotto II of which loser gets Juan Manuel Marquez.
The investigation has to take its course I just hope the commission doesn't get paid off to go one way or the other. Margarito / Cotto fight will sell out the door if nothing else out of curiosity...all good things for Arum. Maybe its me but Margarito looked a little shaken by the re-wrapping he wasn't that fierce stare down at the start and Mosley seemed to be smirking at his punches...
Pacquiao didn't get shot but did get his eardrum broken and kept coming forward so the guy's either immune to pain and shocks to his equilibrium or who knows what. And the reason no Phillipinos have come away with gold medals may be because of the Olympic style testing...(?)
Cotto needs to be careful with challenging Mosley. He has their past fight to build on knowledge-wise plus the Marg defeat. Cotto also needs to give his input on matchups instead of "whatever my company decides..." thats the attitude that can get fighters in career trouble. Arum is smart but has money in the forefront of his mind...Cotto is intuitive enough to make some of his own suggestions at the least.
Ali was a cunt, racist and self-proclaimed himself to be the greatest.
At the end of the day feel sorry for him all you like but the guy was a twat back in the day, look at all the shit he did to frazier.
I will celebrate his sporting achievements and that's it.
A little harsh but a point with some validity. Ali wasn't the most sportsmanlike taking it beyond competition and getting personal often...and who knows what these guys do at home or not, such as being a father and husband or son etc, so we should be careful to not idolize and worship and keep comment to what he showed in the ring, "the greatest"...up for debate otherwise he's cool and sincere ironically he had my wife sit in his lap when she was a baby on a plane ride from Cali back 30+ years ago I'm sure in an attempt to get it in with her mom (offered her mom and her a private limo home and everything) while we are all shedding light he just another man that I'm sure has done all the evil that men do, thats all.
Zab should be applauded. He doesn't wait six months to a year to get back in the ring and against solid opponents. He bangs all fight long or at least until he unravels and he is not the worst excuse producer out there.
Your probably right but it shouldn't be that way. Marg particular style was a problem for Cotto but all things considered Marg doesn't belong in the same rank as Cotto p4p, especially now with the Mosley...if we look at it on a win basis where do we place Williams who beat Marg who beat Cotto etc...? A system is needed that all commissions will adopt.
He may lose based on the fight contract but shouldn't also have the WBO strip the title because he was limited by contract from the full welterweight limit. In other words, if he stands to lose the ww belt he needs to be alotted his ww limit of 147.
Hatton is good but slightly delusional about being great on a world class level. He's popular, well liked, entertaining to watch and deserves his due respect but has exploitable flaws despite Mayweather Sr. instruction. Cortez didn't hold down Hatton's hands so Mayweather could knock him out. It looks like Hatton wanted to clinch to neutralize Mayweather and that's not skill furthermore I saw Mayweather beating him on the inside too!
Hatton is confused as to the meaning of p4p best. Just beating Pacquiao will not do it. One style/size/circumstamces can beat another but its just a style problem...for example Margarito beat Cotto but no one can claim Margarito should be considered better on a p4p basis...so if Hatton beats Pac it just means he beat the #1p4p but if plenty of lesser fighters can then beat Hatton that has to be weighted. Pacs resume its just superb, it pisses on everyone else's, even Mayweather's.
Thats what Cotto gets for deferring to "his company's" direction all the time. Now he sees the corruption , the greed, the lack of integrity, loyalty etc...that has turned so many main stream sports fans from boxing...I believe he was naive as to these things or maybe thought his sincerity would inspire sincerity in others...Maybe he should go to Mexico and put Arums favorito out for good...but he should fight smarter and bring a US ambassador cause the corruption will be ten times worse.
One point makes some sense Cotto does seem to be getting hit more often and would someone tell him he doesn't have Mayweather reflexes or Ali leverage or Sugar ray footwork he does that dancing and hops and tries to lean back to avoid shots and its not working. His best defense has always been offense...and where's the bodywork?
Did someone say PPV? I know Cottos an attraction and is well worth paying for against most quality opponents but its ridiculous greed to put it on PPV. Arum and HBO would be able perhaps to attract some of the casual boxing fans by treating them to a Cotto fight like this and then pulling in main stream viewers for bigger events...(?) Or do they even care? Since windfalls on PPVs are keeping them well fed between bouts...only the fans (in need of a reason to hang on), AND potential fans (in need of some new entertainment) and boxers (who desperately need exposure), suffer.
Arum is full of shit. They probably sent a contract to Mayweather with 50-50 purse, the fight in Dallas, and 14-day window for drug testing. When Mayweather rejects this, it will make him look bad but in reality that is none of what Floyd was asking for.
Exactly, its all for hype. A 14 day cutoff is not "random"
Kathy is right. Adamek is the draw. Even though Hopkins is great he's not a draw in the sense that he's the sole reason people may go see or order a PPV fight...it depends who he's fighting. European boxers have a larger market worldwide and growing in the US everyday...Adamek produces exciting knockouts and gets smacked in the face by Golden Boy...Kathy should pick up Cotto and lock down the Garden while she's at it. Golden Boy has to start recruiting soon they won't be able to recycle anymore.
First Cotto needs to demand some testing there's just too many questions following his Pacs recent intense refusal. Then it has to be at a division a real division that is Cotto gets to come in anywhere up to the limit and so does Pac. And lastly Cotto, win or lose needs to start thinking of retirement and stacking money therefore he needs a 50% split and a good guaranteed purse or push hard for a Mayweather fight...which may actually be more entertaining to watch since May won't have enough power and pressure to knock him out but will connect alot and Cotto will have his moments early...whereas Mayweather will just toy with Pac all night ala Sugar Ray v. Duran till Pac says "no mas!".
Oscar tried to place safe vs Trinidad and the judges didn't appreciate it. A rematch would be interesting: Trinidad still goes forward, Oscar has slowed down just enough to get caught a few times but can still counter with some fire. ( I think ) Oscar will be more comfortable in weight and it gives Trindad a now or never motivation to get down to 160 at least if he doesn't he shouldn't complain cause for everything there's a price. Plus it can still sell but time is eroding its demand by the day.
Pacquiao's best strategy to win is to throw uppercuts while turning right and hopefully for him he won't bounce the wrong way or lose balance. For Cotto he should just fake his punch or go right into his block, by nature, Pac will try to counter and lunge forward aggressively for Cotto to mop him up.
When Pacquiao's team watches the tapes they'll switch up their gameplan...Roach will see that Cotto tires under pressure but to pressure Cotto Pac has to expose himself to too much danger. If Pacs so good of a boxer now he's best served to rely on outboxing Cotto for twelve otherwise if he tries to bully him down like Margarito (and without plaster) he's in for a welterweight welcoming party that DLH didn't properly introduce him to.
The essence of what Mayweather says is true. He blueprints, Roach watches, Pacquiao follows Roach's instruction and does it more explicitly. Mayweather is in a different league than Pac, no question. But heart and determination make up for alot of that skill that Mayweather would bring and Mayweather is exposing some insecurity with all the talk. Reliance on boxing skills alone can't sustain a fighter forever...I suspect that's why he was so emotional after that Gatti win, his skills/speed got him the win without him having to hit the deep waters. Gatti was Gatti when he was in the murky dark.
Mayweather will beat Pac easily. He'll stay out of range and when Pac jumps in he'll just time him all night. Plus Mayweather has the added advantage of Cotto's first couple of rounds as a blueprint only he'll have the presence of mind to keep it up all fight unlike Cotto who started to leave himself open too much. Mayweather can match handspeed and footwork but will only need to use defense to win he just won't be there to get hit.
As I said before the fight... (Plus without the illegal hardening substance)...Shane will take Cotto's fight blueprint..add in three elements, lateral movement, body shots and some clinching and win an easy UD. Mosley is slightly faster than Cotto which will make Margarito look extra slow to the judges. An efficient boxer will always beat a brawler provided he maintains boxing through the whole fight.
Watched him at the Olympic invitational when it came to CT. He is fun to watch likes to entertain and is charismatic. To get any real exposure/money he needs to put on some weight and obviously any knockout power is yet to be seen. If he goes 89-0 vs US comp and loses to the second foreigner he faces does that mean our level of comp is subpar to the rest of the world?
Seeing Mayweather handle Marquez like that puts serious questions on what, if anything Pac can do with Cotto. Cotto put Cottey down with a straight jab, Clottey is very rugged. Cotto got hammered with "loaded" gloves from a wide wingspan, taller, more leveraged forward walking cinder block in Margarito. Plus he's has boxed toe to toe with the great Mosley and super Zab Judah (who for 4 rounds was as quick as Mayweather) I think a good boxer beats a good fighter and a good stronger boxer beats a good lighter fighter consistently. Pac needs a string of great connects to do anything substantial.
Obviously now he talks of a mega fight for Cotto anticipating the possibilty that Cotto may leave after this year. Mayweather is better for Cotto but Arum won't make as much money.
I wonder if Pacquiao's fists are harder than Margarito's plaster. Cotto may actually have gained confidence in his punishment taking abilities with Clottey and the cut. Teddy Atlas says he still sees ghosts of Margarito but I hope Cotto realizes it can't any worse than a bigger taller welterweight with a granite chin and construction material in his gloves and gives us a real show. To give Pac some due credit, Cotto is going have to use some leverage and forearm pushing ala Hopkins cause Pac throws from any angle available, he can't let him find his balance or he'll end up in shock like DLH.
