Wow some of you guys are really thick, I can't imagine you lot in research.
UFC put on at least 12 PPV'S a year, sometimes more. Boxing does not have the same model, so why are we comparing the two? Boxing has around 3-5 PPV events a year so obviously even if Boxing had an incredible year of three 1 Million PPV events, the UFC could, in theory have a stinker of a year (i.e. 250,000 per event)) and still get around the same number come the end of the year.
Work out the average number of buys per year to get a fair reflection.
I said exciting fighters, America is still a dominant force in terms of the champions they have but none of them are crossover stars except Mayweather but then again does he have a belt? I can't remember.
Andre Ward looks like marketable, family man image, Olympian e.t.c.
I'm impressed that this thread hasan't fell into the usual UFC VS Boxing tripe.
Although in saying that I would rather watch my nan on the toilet than UFC to be honest.
Couldn't agree more, I don't really recall this sought of racial tension even a few years ago. The Mayweather vs Pacquaio debacle has only increased this, I do like these boards but alot of people on here don't act very noble.
In the UK there are only a few sports that could get 10 million plus figures on TV, since the 90's anyway;
Football, obviously very popular over here. In fact 20 million plus during the World Cup is not unheard of.
Snooker, perhaps not in a great state at the minute but during its peak had massive audiences on the BBC.
Boxing, 15 million people watched Benn vs Eubank all those years ago. 600K bought Haye vs Harrison which is outstanding considering our population.
These above sports could still be defined as the working class sports. Cricket, Rugby are big in terms of participants but would never get viewing figures around 15 million. Tennis is probably the biggest middle class sport.
What previous template will you build upon more, Taylor vs Hopkins or Calzaghe vs Hopkins? I think you greatest asset is your ability to adopt differing fighting styles, i.e lateral movement against Dicanou and the more aggressive style you went for against Dawson.
