It seems as if UKAD wants to hide something like with the doctor's probe beginning of this year. That London doc prescribed performance enhancing drugs to many athletes and UKAD knew about it.There should be definitely more investigation!
Or it could just be that they have to follow due process and assume he's not guilty until the investigation is over and all evidence has been presented. I'm sure you would expect the same if you knew you'd done nothing wrong, but "something" was found in one of your samples. You'd want everything checked and double checked to prove your innocence.
It's not professional to tarnish a sportsman's career until you are absolutely sure of what happened and that a violation had indeed taken place. It's simply the rule of law. Everything else is just pure speculation.
If it's proven through evidence that he has cheated, I'm of the opinion that he should be banned for life not just a couple of years. A cheat is a cheat and you can never trust them again not to find a more technologically advanced method of masking their actions.
Clearly something has been found for an investigation to be opened. I'm willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until it's over.
It's been a year since he did the moondance with Wlad, but now, you're right. I don't see any muscles in that hurt foot photo.
lol, I hear you. I don't think there will be a surge in people wanting to buy it if they end up in the same shape as Fury.
They had a team MMA league in the US, but it didn't do well & eventually went outta business so idk about this idea. Although maybe they are more into the team format in an individual sport in the UK, but I'd bet against this working.
Maybe with a name like Khan and the marketing power of Sky Sports it might make it big. It might even be worth trying to get it on prime time TV like ITV to get a bigger audience.
Lol, bless him I'd fear for his life in MMA. I like the guy, as long as he's just setting it up and promoting then good luck to him. if he's planning on fighting I'd advise against it
Idk about Khan's name being involved, but **** maybe. It always seemed to me that he thought he was more popular in the UK than he actually is...I mean lately anyway...I think after the Olympics he might've had a more solid rep than he does these days.
As for the rest of what you're saying you could be right. Could be a better time for it than when the US MMA team league was in play too.
I think most people overestimate their popularity, but he's definitely a household name. Team fighting is always difficult to get behind because it's hard to find a stand out star to promote the sport like Paq/Mayweather or Connor Mcgreggor
Say what you want about Khan but the dude should be a role model for those in the sport wanting to invest their earnings in an expansive portfolio of various businesses. Unless his wife take all his money like a money grubbing skank this dude should be WELL comfortable after his next KO ends his career.
Gotta agree with you there. I think that's why he's going for the Brook fight, he knows that's probably his last opportunity for a huge payday, plus all the business ventures he's into. You have to respect a man who thinks ahead and doesn't let all the emotional stuff get him down.
I really hope he gets his family stuff sorted and teaches them to fix things in private and not on Facebook. Regardless of how weak his chin is Khan was good for the sport when he was at the top of his game and will hopefully continue to be good for it when he eventually retires.
be lucky u got a shot at boxings greatest prospect/contender in Eubank who will become a legend in the sport once he destroys GGG
We can dream... I met Eubank Sr in the Airport last week. I wished them luck for 2017. I wanted to say please make the big fights but I didn't want to come across as a*****e
He's worried about the promotion of the fight? I'd be more worried the check clears :lol1:
lol, I'm sure they'll pay the man. Nobody will fight him ever again if they pulled that kinda stunt
Sit down David before you hurt yourself. Honestly, where was all this during the fight? He'd already bitten you a few times during the fight, why didn't you knock him spark out and show him who's boss when you were getting paid to do it?
Hearn...let's get this fight done but u, Wilder must agree to a multi fight deal w DAZN in order to fight AJ. DAZN n Hearn want to have control of Wilders next few fights instead of just doing a one off n having a rematch on Showtime or Fox if Wilder wins. Hearn is pissed cause DAZN pretty much is pressuring him to deliver the fight for then.
3 fights he wanted, Brezeale, and Joshua twice, then he's free to do as he pleases.
As someone who's impartial I'm not seeing the logic here, 3 fights you want plus 100m dollars what's not to like other than the network. But we have to consider he says he's a network free agent. Showtime can't afford to pay the same money.
Granted Hearn will be the winner overall whatever the results, and that clearly upsets some people, but I think they all need to put their spite aside and just make the damn fight.
By the way that's not too say I care about any of the above. I genuinely DGAF when, where, in what platform or network, how much, splits, Promoters..... I just want to see the fight.
Unfortunately all the fans are busy calling each other out rather than the fighters. They just need to just growi a set and fight.
There's so much hate for the Eubanks it's makes me want him to win more.
Also the fact that I followed his dad's career and Jr from the beginning and feel he's got something special and just needs to step up to show it. Today is that day and nobody can argue that Groves isn't a live world class operator. However I can guarantee that the haters will come out in force if he wins to say Groves was never any good and is just another Euro bum who was over the hill. I'm looking forward to all the haters eating their words and doing anything to take credit away from Eubank.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a Eubank lover, I just like exciting fights like he provides, but I'm also a big fan of Groves, especially after he put the beatdown on Degale when everyone had no idea who he was. Basically I don't hate anyone in boxing, it takes balls to fight and as long as they're not cheating I'm happy whatever the outcome.
In the long term I think boxing will be better off if Eubank wins, but Groves should start to get a bit more recognition after today if he wins.
So to beat AJ you actually have to beat him twice.
Straight out of the horses mouth ladies and gents.
If it's a close boring fight, most won't want to a rematch.
If he gets sparked in the first you'd want to see if he just got caught cold. But I do see your point you're trying to make
Is that cut going to heal in time for him to have a proper training camp for a February 22 fight?
Camp will be fine other than sparing which will basically be a no go until maybe a couple of weeks before the fight. Even then I'd imagine he'll use a head guard.
You can't spar only a couple of weeks before a fight and expect to be sharp.
Unless you're doing System 9 like Anthony Yarde.
Haha, didn't work out so well for him...
Agreed, he won't be a sharp as he'd want, but if he really wants to push forward with that date he can't take risks.
Warren doesn't sound optimistic for Feb anyway, so it seems a foregone conclusion that he'll look to delay. Where that puts him with regards to step aside money, I don't know. Also I'd imagine any step aside would have to be a contract with stipulations that say he's guaranteed the next fight against the winner. Will be hard logistically, but you can imagine he'll milk it for what it's worth.
According to the WBA and president Gilberto Mendoza they just announced that the winner of Povetkin vs. Price will be the WBA mandatory and the Champion has to fight them next unless the Champion fights Deontay Wilder in a unification fight.
Here's an article on it:
http://hithardnews.com/wba-confirm-povetkin-v-price-winner-will-be-mandatory-for-joshua-joshua-v-povetkin-mooted-for-moscow/
That's some straight up BS, what on earth has Price done to earn an eliminator? He's been a nobody in the division for years and it's not like he's had any defining fights since he's been back.
If this blocks the Wilder fight I'll be mighty pissed off. At least you can say Whyte deserves a shot because he's beaten ranked boxers, the hell has Price done?
Good for Haney, that's the attitude you need to have at that stage. Youthful ambition cam be extremely powerful but it can also be reckless. I think this is a close fight, but I hope that if Haney didn't get the decision that he doesn't lose his confidence and self belief, that's what happens a lot these days when young fighters lose, they don't understand that it's a part of the process.
All the greats came back from losses.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained...
Nice to see a young lion risking it all for the glory. Makes a nice change compared to the boring articles about promoters, splits, A side BS...
If he wins (x2) he's top dog in the division and can make all the demands he wants. This is a chance to become a GOAT if he can target and beat the likes of Loma, Lopez, Garcia, Tank..
Or he could lose and go to the back of the queue, either way he's still young and has time to build a legacy.
Did you see Joshua’s body language? He turned his back on the ref and was talking to his corner. I thought it should have been stopped there but was surprised when it did.
Though with a minute left in the round, Andy would have gotten the third KD
I genuinely think he didn't quite know where he was or what was going on. The ref's instructions were clear, there can be no argument, he just didn't move or respond he just stood there smiling.
I think Hearn may be in serious trouble, a lot of people lost big money tonight.
However, DAZN could use this to their advantage to drive Mexican subscriptions. Canelo and Ruiz headlining is their "in" to the market. They'll surely milk it while they have the rematch clause. Either that or they'll offer big money to sign him if they're clever.
Anyone else feel sad after seeing that?..
:frown:
Pls retire!
It's just heart breaking to see a legend grind himself into the ground. I'll just put it down to arrogance and forget the past years ever happened.
Finkle is exactly right about that last part about implied ownership. Nailed it spot on. Hearn seems to think wilder should “yassa boss”, buck dance, and c**n every time Hearn twinkles his little silver bell. Hearn, and his nationalist sycophtic fans, believe wilder should just do as he is told by some foreigner talking down to him. Hearn may have all the privilege in the world in London, England but these American men of color are a bit more independent and proud than what we are used to in the uk. And I love that about the African people of descent in my adopted American home. I love their pride.
To be honest if I need to do a bit of hard labour for a couple of years, and someone was gonna pay me $100m, you're damn straight I'm saying "yassa boss"
if I wasn't getting paid my worth then I wouldn't get involved in the first place. But I mean, it's hardly slave labour at 100m, otherwise we'd all be lining up for it.
Love him or hate him, Khan makes entertaining fights whatever happens. He can totally dominate a fighter like Canelo and Garcia one minute and have his soul knocked to the next dimension in the next. No doubt he has some power as he's hurt live opponents like Maidana, but his stamina and chin will keep you on the edge of your seat till the final bell.
If you hate him it's worth paying to watch just to see him get decapitated with a power shot. Granted Lo Greco probably couldn't KO his grandma if he tried, but you wouldn't bet against a KO win given the fragility of Khan's chin.
Whyte is a tuneup. If I'm wilder I wouldn't even entertain Matchroom. Eddie Hearn plays too many games.
Who gives a **** about the promoter? Whyte is a great comeback fight for Wilder, but it's not without risks.
Both should contemplate retirement if they lose, but whoever wins will be back in business to command a reasonable amount in a title fight. Both have blown their chance at mega money with the recent losses, but they could still try to make some retirement money as a last hoorah.
Win against Aj/Fury winner and they become the "comeback king" cash cow of the division if done in style
he will be just like the last few opponents, there to pick up a pay cheque and enjoy being involved in a big event. he'll be beat in his mind before he even gets in the ring, he'll do what plant did just try and go a few rounds and not disgrace himself then they hes proved he belongs at that level. tthere wont be any proper game plan, no real desire or belief that he can win. again its the fans who will lose out because this type of thing sounds great to the casuals, they will see the weigh ins and believe that mabuka is too big for him and is a real champion, but they dont realise hes been cherrypicked specifically because hes no threat, same as last few opponents. reminds me of kovalev fight when they saw there was an opportunity to fight a vulnerable belt holder, he wont hang around after beating him he'll drop back down to 168 to fight joe smith or someone, and his fans will say he is an ATG and making history
The real question in these types of fights is why not going go guns-a-blazing and spark him out? Think of the money you could rake in just from media hype around you as the guy who beat a legit P4P possibly future ATG/HoF? You'll get bigger fights, bigger purses, more attention, be invited to talk shows, books, documentaries... If you're getting paid anyway, why not just take a chance, you literally lose nothing but your dignity if you don't give it your best. It is sad to see people quit on the stool like Yildirim, but it was great to see Amir Khan really trying before having his soul separated from his body for a few minutes. He may have nearly died, but at least he tried.
Suicide....he thought he was inactive b4....
Lol, exactly. He was blaming "Uncle Bob" for the inactivity, he's gonna be lucky to get another fight from bob after this.
If pac will not work with arum he will not get loma and bud. Pac is a warrior.
Pac already had his status in the HOF, he doesn't need them he's fought the best fighters of his generation and beat them all. Prime Pac would give them both hell, but I don't think he needs to prove his greatness against arguably the 2 best P4P fighters in the planet.
He should fight people like Garcia, Porter, Khan and the like who are big enough names that he can make serious bank with but not have to worry about losing to. I think Spence is too much to ask at this stage of his career, I can't see him winning.
I flat out believe it is a lie.
I didn't want to be so blunt, but I can't disagree.
I prefer people keep their sparring sessions private, it's a time when you can try things out in a safe environment that you probably wouldn't ever consider in a real bout.
I don't know. Looked like Loma was extremely accurate with his connects.
Certainly accurate, but it didn't look like he was hitting with full power. It was probably the first time in the fight that Loma really took the fight to him. In the previous rounds it seemed he was holding back to see if Walters really had the power to hurt him. Once he established Walters was not there to come forward he turned up the heat. Still nowhere near enough to just quit like that.
I mean surely it would have been better for his career to even take a knee or feign an injury than quit on his stool.
It's really hard to see a way back to the top without really going out there and proving himself all over again.
Or crying they were KOd from a push
Lol, that's gonna be his excuse for life, regardless of the fact that he was out cold before he hit the floor...I like Whyte, but he was way out of his depth. He's a great fighter, just not championship level. He'll be a really tough gatekeeper for the up and coming guys
