Both sides confirmed there were talks in summer of 2019 for a September unification fight for Canelo vs Andrade. Problem was DAZN was trying to force the GGG trilogy as Oscar De La Hoya had told them he could get Canelo to do it when they were signing GGG.
DAZN told Canelo they wouldn’t approve any opponent other than GGG.
Had DAZN not gotten in the way Canelo would have whipped Andrade’s ass and unified 160. Once that was no longer an option he left 160 behind and focused on 168.
Now you know.
Correct! There was a lot of issues with regards to this in terms of promoters. I believe this is another case where De La Hoya dropped the ball and failed to inform Canelos camp of the extension that was given to negotiate the next fight which led to him being stripped of a title.
Charlo. He’s got some very tight boxing couple with very good power and a strong jab. Benavidez would be a good fight as well but I didn’t like how much he was getting touched in his last fight.
I didn’t like how much truax was landing the same punch on him. I don’t think the jab will be consistent enough throughout the fight, not to mention he won’t have the power to keep Canelo off. I am interested to see how he takes the body shots.
I think he does, not too mention the volume of punches he throughs and the accuracy at which he throws them. I could definately see Cotto fading from the number of body shots he takes in this fight and eventually getting tko'd.
Yeah since alot of these guys have very successful wrestling, Muay Thai, and BJJ backgrounds, Some even competing in the olympics. I agree that it may be tougher to work your way up the ranks in boxing but in an mma fight there's so many ways to lose that if you go 15-0 your usually considered a very good fighter and most likely ranked fairly high.
After the Floyd fight, Canelo fought Ángulo on PPV. The sale rate were ****tiey af, so they put him back on network TV. Point is, is tank isn’t selling enough PPV, they wouldn’t hesitate to place him back on regular Showtime.
Yea I think they were around 400k, clearly below what they expected at the time.
